Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road Hill Ascent Demonstration

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is all new for 2014, and there’s no better way to demonstrate its abilities than to take it off road. Jeep invited Autobytel to drive a new V8 Grand Cherokee on a typical off-road course that featured hill climbs and descents, tight turns, and other obstacles. Then the terrain changed to a more drastic 30-degree incline, which was the perfect opportunity to really push the new Grand Cherokee’s limits. Jeep’s Selec Speed Control is one of the features that helps make the new 2014 Grand Cherokee such a capable off-road sport utility vehicle. Selec Speed Control, which is exclusive to V8 models, puts the Grand Cherokee into a mode where the vehicle crawls at slow speed, enabling it to focus its power on going up and down inclines. When Selec Speed Control is enabled, the driver doesn’t need to modulate the throttle or the brake, because Selec Speed Control does all the work. During the Autobytel off-road test drive, the Grand Cherokee equipped with Selec Speed Control was able to tackle steep, rocky ascents and descents. The trip was slow but steady, and the new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee conquered the terrain without breaking a sweat.
