Jaguar’s introduction of the 2006 XJ Super V8 Portfolio proves two things about this legendary British automaker to its loyal customers and admirers alike. First, Jaguar is serious about staying at the top of the luxury car segment. It was overwhelming enthusiasm for the Concept Eight, Jaguar’s luxurious styling concept that debuted at the 2004 New York Auto Show, that prompted the company to move rapidly forward with the introduction of the Super V8 Portfolio just one year later. Second, Jaguar listens to its customers and stayed true to the concept vehicle that so many people loved and desired. Very little changed in the transition from the Concept Eight to the production Super V8 Portfolio. The only obvious loss was the single-piece glass roof of the Concept Eight. In place of the glass roof, an electronically adjustable tinted glass sunroof allows the Super V8 Portfolio to retain its side-curtain airbags. Also gone are the one-inch thick, handmade carpets lining the Concept Eight. Once again, Jaguar ups the ante in the luxury class segment with the introduction of the Super V8 Portfolio. Loaded with style, power, and creature comforts, nothing was overlooked in the Super V8 Portfolio. Dressed in aluminum trim and sporting new side vents and larger 20-inch rims, the 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio is unmistakably ready to take on all competitors. Each Super V8 Portfolio is built to identical standards with the only option being a choice of paint color: Black Cherry or Winter Gold.

Control Panel

The 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio comes with standard Bluetooth wireless technology that allows your cell phone to link with the rear console-mounted keypad and entertainment system. A hinged cover keeps the keypad discretely hidden from view.

Satin-finish Veneers

Luxurious Black Walnut veneers used throughout the interior of the Super V8 Portfolio now sport a satin finish rather than the high-gloss look that was previously used. The new finish gives the interior a contemporary look and feel that distinguishes it from the other models in the Jaguar lineup.

Center Console

The six-speed automatic transmission is engaged using the aluminum and leather shifter centered in an aluminum J-gate surround. Soft-grained leather and satin-finished Black Walnut veneer round out the luxurious appointments in the Super V8 Portfolio.

Rear Seating

Individual rear seating is one big change on the 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio. Fully adjustable, separate rear buckets replace the standard bench seat in regular XJ models. A large center console incorporates both roomy storage compartments and individual seat controls for the comfort of the rear passengers. A multi-functional center keypad contains controls for the TV tuner, DVD entertainment system and Bluetooth wireless technologies as well as individual-zone climate control settings.

Driver’s Area

Drivers of the 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio will find themselves surrounded in luxury. Aluminum trim, soft-grained leather and satin-finish Black Walnut wood abound in the Portfolio’s interior. The passenger cabin was designed to give occupants maximum head and legroom while incorporating Jaguar’s reputation for comfort and luxury.

Grille

Like all performance Jaguar models, the 2006 XJ Super V8 Portfolio wears the company’s signature mesh grille like a badge of honor. This distinguishing trademark of all high-horsepower Jaguars signifies serious performance capabilities.

Fender Vents

The 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio’s most distinguishing exterior design feature is the aluminum side vents located just aft of the front wheel openings. The vents assist in cooling the engine compartment as well as improve the aerodynamic flow of air to the rear of the car.

Wheels

Unlike the Concept Eight show car, which was shown with 21-inch alloy wheels, the XJ Super V8 Portfolio wears 20-inch polished alloy rims. Jaguar decided to incorporate the smaller diameter rims to deliver a better ride quality and improve durability.

Side View

Lower, wider and possessing an aggressive stance, it’s apparent from any angle that the 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio is a serious performance sedan. Touting 400 horsepower mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and wearing 20-inch rims, the Portfolio is capable of getting you to your investment broker’s office quickly and in total comfort and style.

Rear View

Unless you’re in a Jaguar showroom, the view most motorists are likely to see of the 2006 XJ Super V8 Portfolio is that of the rear as it blows past in traffic. Large chrome-finished dual exhaust tips accentuate the rear of the Super V8 Portfolio. With a 0-60 acceleration time of five seconds, according to Jaguar, the Super V8 Portfolio is a serious sport/luxury sedan.
