2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)
Pros: Navigation System
Cons: Single Cup Holder
Advice: Although the 2.5L is adequate, I recommend going with the 3.0L if you can afford it.
I test drove the 2003 2.5L automatic X-Type and the 2.5L automatic X-Type with Sport Package. I purchased the Sport model with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Navigation System, Sun roof, Xenon Headlamps, Heated Seats...basically with all the bells and whistles. The Sport model has bigger wheels and a 'Sport' button that allows higher RPMs before the engine shifts to a higher gear. Additionally, I found the Sport seats more comfortable and generally superior to the non-sport model's seats. The dark grey interior wood trim on the Sport model is very attractive as well. -
2003 Jaguar X-Type - 3.0 (A5)
Pros: Gorgeous Exterior.
Cons: Only one cup holder.
Advice: Take the 3 liter. It is much more powerful.
I just bought this vehicle, and so far I am thrilled. It is absolutely great in the snow. It is extremely comfortable and smooth, better than any car I've ever tried. Acceleration is very good too. I hope that the quality and maintenance of this vehicle will prove to be as good as the rest of it is now. -

EVEN THOUGH I WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PAST PEFORMANCE HISTORY OF THE JAGUAR I LEASED AN X-TYPE WITHOUT DOING A THOROUGH EVALUATION. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A PRETTY LOOKING CAR WITH A PATHETIC TRANSMISSION. ROUGH AND NOTCHY IN EVERY GEAR TRANSITION,EXTREMELY STIFF CLUTCH WHICH,WHEN NOT DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR, CAUSES STALL. UNLESS YOU ARE RELATIVELY TALL YOU'LL HAVE TO SIT UNCOMFORTABLY AND UNSAFELY CLOSE TO THE WHEEL IN ORDER TO OPERATE CLUTCH. SOUND SYSTEM IS CHEAP AND CHEESY, SEATS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE. WORST STICK SHIFT AUTO I'VE EVER DRIVEN. THIS IS A SCALED DOWN VERSION OF THE JAG INTENDED TO ATTRACT BUYERS WHO LIKE THEIR LOOKS BUT AREN'T NECESSARILY DRIVERS. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I LIKED THEIR LOOKS AND LIKED THE SALESMAN'S PITCH ON JAG SERVICE. NOW THAT I'M HAVING PROBLEMS NEITHER THE SALESMAN NOR THE DEALER REMEMBER MY NAME NOR RETURN MY CALLS. -

Pros: The standard leather and wood steering wheel
Cons: Back sensor for reverse park should be painted the color of the car, instead of left black
Advice: The best car for the money. All wheel drive and leather are standard, along with power everything. Best car for the money. It feels like I am driving a $50k car .
The handling is a combo of the luxury drive of a Mercedes, coupled with the sporty pick-up of the BMW.
