About the 2014 Jaguar F-Type:

Jaguar expands its lineup with the new 2014 F-Type, a 2-seat roadster priced lower than the existing XK model. Equipped with a choice between a supercharged V-6 and a supercharged V-8 engine, the new 2014 Jaguar F-Type is the first of several new models that the automaker will launch in coming years.

Model Lineup:

With prices starting right around $70,000, Jaguar’s new sports car is offered as the F-Type, F-Type S, and F-Type S V8. Each is packaged in similar fashion, with mechanical and cosmetic modifications serving as primary differentiators. The main exception is that the F-Type S V8 is equipped with standard dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped 14-way power sport seats, and rear parking sensors.

Mechanical upgrades for the F-Type S include extra horsepower and torque, a limited-slip rear differential, high-performance brakes, a sport exhaust system, an Adaptive Dynamics sport suspension, and larger 19-inch aluminum wheels. The F-Type S V8 gets an even more powerful engine combined with a more robust braking system, an electronic active rear differential, and 20-inch wheels.

Optional Equipment:

Jaguar offers several option packages for the 2014 F-Type. The Premium Pack is likely to prove popular, as it adds 14-way power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a passive entry system, and more. The Vision Pack is loaded with safety equipment, and the F-Type S and F-Type S V8 can be optioned with a Performance Pack. All models are available with exterior and interior trim enhancements, and dealers also offer extra-cost upgrades.

Engines and Transmissions:

The F-Type and F-Type S models are equipped with a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 making 340 horsepower in standard format and 380 horsepower in the F-Type S. An 8-speed automatic transmission drives the car’s rear wheels, and the driver can use paddle shifters to manually change gears. The F-Type S accelerates to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, compared to 5.1 seconds for the standard car, and goes 171 mph, 10 mph faster than the standard F-Type.

Choose the F-Type S V8 and Jaguar’s new roadster gets a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 sending 495 horsepower to the rear wheels. The increase in power is good for a zero-to-60 mph acceleration time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

Fuel Economy Ratings:

Jaguar equips each F-Type with Intelligent Stop/Start technology to improve fuel economy. In combined driving, the new 2014 F-Type gets between 18 mpg and 23 mpg, with the V-8 engine proving thirstier than either V-6 engine.

Safety Ratings:

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the 2014 Jaguar F-Type, and given the low production volume and specialty nature of the car, neither is likely to.

Technology Highlights:

Bluetooth, navigation, and a premium sound system are standard for the 2014 F-Type. The optional Vision Pack adds a reversing camera, parking sensors, adaptive headlights, a Blind Spot Monitor, and Reverse Traffic Detection to the sports car.
