Sales Will Be Capped at 250 Units
Last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Jaguar revealed the F-Type Project 7 concept. The concept, which paid homage to the D-Type racecar, mimicked the famed Jaguar of olde right down to the fin behind the driver and absent passenger seat. For this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, the British automaker has revealed that the Project 7 will go into limited production.
The production version of the Project 7 is nearly identical to the concept with the D-Type-inspired fin and a fair number of carbon fiber parts, including a front splitter and adjustable rear spoiler. Providing excellent grip are a set of twenty-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. Unlike the concept, the production Project 7 will have a removeable roof. Inside, the Project 7 comes with seating for two people, along with a number of carbon fiber components, sport seats, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
Power comes from the familiar 5.0L supercharged Jaguar V8 making 575 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic, Jaguar says the Project 7 can hit 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 186 MPH. To keep all of this power in check, Jaguar has employed carbon ceramic brakes, a number of aerodynamic improvements, electronic differential, and brake-based torque vectoring system.
The recently announced Special Operations division for Jaguar Land Rover will handle the production. Only 250 Project 7s will be built. No word on a pricetag.
