Ratings are most often the result of car owners complaining about their vehicles but the 2012 Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVAs) spotlight the cars that meet owner's expectations and desires about their big ticket automotive purchases. After surveying over 75,000 owners who bought 2012 models between September and December, 2011, and after driving their vehicle for 90 days, the owners respond to questions about 15 vehicle attributes regarding their desire for those aspects to be changed. The Ideal Vehicle Awards are given to the vehicles in which owners wanted the least amount of change.
The significance of the Ideal Vehicle Awards is that they identify the automotive manufacturers that are listening to their buyers when updating and developing their latest cars. With 38% of car buyers being positively influenced by owner-based awards like the IVAs, these awards can give car shoppers a good direction to go when searching for their next vehicle purchase.
