The car that brought Hyundai to the attention of many consumers in the United States was the ill-fated 1986 Hyundai Excel. A runaway best seller, the Excel offered crisp styling (courtesy of Italian automotive designer Giorgetto Giugiaro), and an incredibly reasonable base price.
