The all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan—recently short-listed for the 2015 North American Car of the Year honor—also will be in the spotlight at the upcoming SEMA show, this time in the form of a 550-hp "super sedan" created by ARK Performance. Called the AR550, the car is the sixth ARK/Hyundai SEMA collaboration and will be introduced at Hyundai's November 4 press conference marking the start of this year's Specialty Equipment Market Association event in Las Vegas.

Said Lerry Liu, marketing director for ARK Performance: “The AR550 concept focuses on refined performance that integrates directly with Hyundai’s ‘Design to Empower’ vision for the Genesis Sedan.

"This year we are focused on two core elements, all under the new line of ARK Racing (AR) concepts for Hyundais. First, we focused on the power, handling, and most importantly the sound of the Hyundai powerplant. Second, we integrated our high-performance racing technology to introduce a very unique and bold Hyundai vehicle.”

The result is a sleek, menacing sports sedan that combines a custom wide-body kit with the opulent cabin of a business jet and appropriately jet-like power. At the heart of the matter: The same 5.0-liter, 420-hp V8 offered in the production 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan, but enhanced by features like a Rotrex supercharger and ARK's performance-intake system, race-spec driveshaft and hi-po exhaust system. Complementing that power is an ARK-enhanced Airrex air suspension and Brembo brakes, the latter of which help put the squeeze on ARK's light-weight forged wheels wrapped in Nitto NT05 summer tires.

And remember, while the AR550 was specifically created to compete against upper-echelon German sport sedans like those on the BMW M roster, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan can serve up some surprising advantages against the Bavarians on its own. For example, since a dynamic driving experience was considered vital to the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan, it rides on a new, more rigid rear-wheel-drive-oriented vehicle platform that makes it "stiffer in both torsional and bending rigidity than the BMW 5-Series," according to the brand.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan is at dealerships now with MSRPs that start at $38,000.
