In a bid to boost its performance credibility, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will showcase an all-V6 lineup for the new selling season, led by a freshly configured entry model that offers the joys of DIY shifting with a six-speed manual transmission. Last year, as Genesis junkies may recall, the starter coupe relied on a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine that was turbocharged to make 274 hp and 275 lb.-ft. of torque—and came with a standard eight-speed automatic.

The reshuffled roster thus will start with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Base model, offering a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 that serves up 348 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque and can be mated to either the six-speed manual or the eight-speed SHIFTRONIC autobox. Next will be an upgraded R-Spec model that benefits from a retuned sport suspension, Brembo braking components and more heavily bolstered front seating; topping the range will be the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Ultimate that offers the same performance enhancements as the R-Spec model, but complemented by the full range of Hyundai's premium infotainment and safety technologies, as well as luxurious cabin appointments.

Pricing for the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is still up in the air at this time, but as a starting point, the least expensive 2014 version, the base four-cylinder model, began at $26,350, while the lowest MSRP for a current V6 Genesis coupe, in R-Spec trim, is $29,350. The automaker also ensures folks that its new lineup was created to provide "maximum powertrain performance at a very affordable price," yet it's worth noting that Hyundai calls out the Infiniti Q60 Coupe and BMW 435i as the rivals for the 2015 Genesis Coupe, and those entries start at $40,950 and $46,100, respectively.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is expected in U.S. dealerships this fall.
