Pros: Lot's of interior room.
Cons: Blind spot from rear pillars.
Advice: This is a very good vehicle for the price and the long warranty is a plus
The Elantra is responsive, great acceleration, good braking very good ride. Interior exceptionally quiet. Excellent gauges and controls, very easy to use. Seating comfortable. CD/Radio XM very good sound quality. Many standard features. -

Cons: Would be nice to have a power upgrade to the engine.
Advice: Buy this car. Honda's and Toyota's are too expensive for what you get.
We bought a 2002 Elantra GT new. Friends who rode in the car thought we paid twice as much for it as we did. The car has great power off the line, even with an automatic transmission. It handles great, has a good stereo, and tight finish all around. Our daughter now has the car, and it has 96,000 miles with no problems. We did replace the struts, which was 2200 dollars, but that's the only repair we've had to make. An all around great car, and we're buying another one this week. -

The car drives very smoothly. Granted on some bumps, you feel them but overall a smooth ride. The cabin room is comfortable, even for the rear seats. I found the Elantra to be quite, to the point even a semi passing me, I did not hear it. The sound system is great and have noticed as you go from highway speed to a stop the sound reduces automatically. Not sure if that was by design but this car did so. Overall, price, looks, ride and performance, this is the car to buy. Compare others but I am confident you will go back to this car. -

Cons: radio not powerful on rf signals could use another stage. Odometer hard to read in daylight

vehicle a pleasure to drive and operate, engine is so quiet, i find acceleration and power sufficient even when entering parkways. The fit and finish is top notch and cabin is very quiet. This car has a lot of room even back seat passengers have no complaints. this car is on level with corolla, civic and sentra. I compared all three makes and found a lot standard items on the elantra were not offered on the civic, corolla and sentra or were optional. The automatic transmison shifts so smoothly. This is a great car and compared to the other three this car is a real bargain. This is my first hyundai and i would buy another hyundai again. -

Pros: Interior gauges at night.
Cons: Interior rattles, highway speed with 15 inch tires.
Advice: The 15 inch tires should be used for mostly inner city driving.
We purchased a 2007 Elantra GLS with the Preferred Package and after 2,000 miles of city and highway driving I am pleased to report that this is a wonderful vehicle. Power and handling are just fine although I would opt for the 16 inch tires over the standard 15. A couple minor interior issues have come up. The glove box rattles and so does the cover under the dash but the dealer has a remedy for the glove box. The dash will be addressed next. Great car and overall, we are very pleased! Redfire Pearl paint does turn some heads, mainly from twenty to thirty something women. -

When my wife's 1990 Dodge Shadow finally gave up the ghost, she wanted a car that wasn't too big, was dependable, and didn't cost an arm and a leg. I started by surveying the newer used cars, but soon found that the price of certain smaller new cars was very competitive. As we narrowed the field, the Elantra presented the best combination of features, quality, and price. So far, we're simply delighted by everything about this vehicle. When the engine turns over, it just purrs, and in fact, our dog no longer knows when we've arrived home, it's that quiet. I was surprised that the headroom was ample for taller drivers (I'm 6'3'), and the interior gives plenty of elbow room. (The Hyundai Accent is a bit narrow for my likes.) The engineering is excellent: it's compact, but has a ton of trunk space, and is taller in the trunk than my Chevy Impala. In fact, my Impala, with a V6, seems to have a little less pep than this 138 HP V4. There are all kinds of nice little details, and everything may not be top-of-the-line, the value is excpetional.
