The 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT five-door hatchback carries over unchanged from the 2014 model year in terms of content, although the automaker has slashed pricing for one of the vehicle's key option packages, creating a notable value play in what's become a very tough segment of the industry.

Now, the savings are slightly off-set by a $50 bump in MSRP, to $18,800, but the bottom line here is that the Tech Package for the 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT has been reduced by $350, which means folks pay $2,900 to add features including a panoramic sunroof, navigation with a 7-inch touchscreen that doubles as a rearview camera, automatic headlights, and dual-zone automatic temperature control.

And customers should be aware that they first have to upgrade with the 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT Style Package—at an MSRP of $2,500—for the car to qualify for the Tech Pack; on the other hand, the Style bundle does bring features such as:

  • A sport-tuned suspension
  • The Hyundai Proximity Key entry system with push-button start
  • Leather seating surfaces complemented by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
  • Blue Link telematics
  • Hidden cabin storage
  • A power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support and driver's-side auto-up window
  • Aluminum pedals
  • Exterior enhancements like 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights and side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators

The 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT also will continue to support its gran turismo positioning with a peppier standard engine than that offered in the 2015 Hyundai Elantra sedan. Thus, while the entry four-door features a 1.8-cylinder four-cylinder unit that makes 145 hp and 130 lb.-ft. of torque, the GT packs an extra 28 horses and 24 lb.-ft. of torque from a 2.0-liter powerplant; that brings total output for the GT to 173 hp and 154 lb.-ft. of torque, with drivers able to choose between six-speed automatic and manual transmissions. EPA-wise, the DIY transmission enables grades of 24 mpg city/34 mpg highway/28 mpg combined, while the automatic sees minor drops of 1 mpg in both highway and combined travel.

The 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT and sedan are both on sale now, with the four-door starting at $17,250. The Elantra Coupe is still listed as a 2014 model as of this writing and showcases an MSRP of $19,600.
