Missouri GM Plant Creates 750 New Jobs
2015 chevy colorado
With pre-sale demand running high, General Motors recently announced it would add a third shift to its Wentzville, Mo., assembly plant to try to keep up with orders for the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado—almost 30,000 of which already have been placed by local Bowtie dealerships.
As a result, GM is creating some 750 new jobs at Wentzville, which not only builds the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado but also its corporate cousin, the GMC Canyon, as well as the Chevy Express and GMC Savana full-size vans. Further, those hires are on top of a previous $513 million investment program—including 1,315 new jobs and a third stamping press—that GM deployed to support the new trucks when they were first announced.
But that doesn't mean the General is done stoking interest in its next-gen mid-sized pickup family. And folks also should keep in mind that the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado (and GMC Canyon) will showcase the new 4G LTE connectivity technology from OnStar, creating a mobile wi-fi hot spot and providing a three-month/3-gigabyte trial data plan.
Priced from $20,120, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is expected in dealerships this fall.
