Cons: All the problems
Advice: This car has transmission problems, it rolled out of park and injured my mom, all while my 2 year old son was in the car. GMC doesn't want to hear these problems though, since this has happed I have had 5 others contact me with similar problems..Seemed nice, but had in service over 12 times in first years
Pros: substantial engineering
Cons: shoulda bought the XM radio.
Advice: buy it- it's a wonderful vehicleGreat power, styling, comfort, room. Good value- can be purchased new as low as $22,000. Quiet ride. responsive dohc inline six. nice dash. I bought a carbon metallic base SLE with the polished aluminum wheels, i get compliments all the time about the looks. I haven't had any problems with mine in 40,000 miles, save a minor recall. Dealer has been great, service is timely & courteous. My first new vehicle- GM has a customer for life. Plus, it feels good to buy a great American made truck, the Ohio-built Envoy has 86% domestic content. A smart and patriotic choice indeed
Pros: built in XM radio and load leveling system which adjusts to whatever I put in the rear of the vehicle. I also very much like the safety features including the side impact airbags.
Cons: Tthe cargo area does not fold down to a level surface. The front seats could be more comfortable, though they are very good.
Advice: I recommend it for general use, especially in areas that have difficult winter weather.I purchased this car new and moved to Cleveland where I had difficult road conditions all winter. The handling is steady and trustworthy. The ride is comfortable and the engine is well matched to city and highway. I have had absolutely no problems with this car and would recommend it to others. The front seats are not as comfortable as my Suburban. More design work on the seats would really improve the total package, which I think is pretty good now.
Pros: memory of favorite settings/sunroof
Cons: ALL OF THE PROBLEMS!
Advice: don't do itI agree with 'CAN YOU SAY LEMON!' 3 days after I drove this off of the lot new, the 4wd stopped working. The check engine light was on constantly, as was the service 4wd light. My head liner was always coming loose, I lived at the dealership. GM wont buy back lemons. I had one service guy tell me that this was an ongoing problem with the Envoys and Trailblazers. I got rid of the thing after it started to make a scrape like noise after being in a stopped position and then going forward/backwards. Of course, they couldn't find a thing wrong with it.
Pros: The driver seat can be adjusted many ways
Cons: The front seatbelts can be a bit uncomfortable for shorter persons.
Advice: Test drive all different in the same class to see the actual difference.Felt that the vehicle rides smoothly in good and bad weather..Looks more sophisticated that other, looked a the trailblazer and explorer. Rides more quiet and much easier that both the above. The Envoy is a very easy drive with an easy adjustment to and SUV from a car.
Pros: The heated seats in the driver and passenger side.
Cons: The gas cap does not have a lock.
Advice: Do not pick black. The Envoy SLT 2004 is a vehicle all alone in its class. I test drove the Ford Explorer Limited 2004 and the Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 2004 and found that the Envoy was more luxurious and the right size for a family of three. The handling of the Envoy was magnificent with a 275hp V6 in line engine. All the controls are right there in front of you. Also, the Envoy SLT comes with a built in wireless phone and equipped with onstar. That alone makes it a great buy and a family friendly vehicle.
Cons: Seat Belts slightly inconvenient to put on. They come from 'behind'.
Advice: Buy it!!Performs well in all conditions. The seat belts are slightly inconvenient when putting on. Some rain will come in to driver and passenger seats if windows are open. Recommend the rain guards. Drove Lincolns for years, I would rate this Envoy as comparable in comfort, performance and all other areas.
