Pros: my memory seat
Cons: the noise
Advice: do not buy itThe third month I bought this vehicle in July 2002, the starter blew up. After 12 months, the battery needed replacement. After that, my window motor broke. There is also an intermittent engine light that comes on. Now my passenger motor for the window is not working again. The biggest thing that bothers me of which gmc could not seem to fix is the driver side window noise from an external wind. I feel like I inherited a lemon car(I hope not). My radio knob decal also faded after a year(they replaced it and it started fading after a year again. I'm not sure the oil from my finger is causing it but I owned 4 other cars and this did not happened.
Pros: Room, Comfort
Cons: The engine
Advice: Look for a newer model and read ratings on all modelsI purchased a brand new GMC Envoy last October and love the look and the comfort of the interior. I have two children and it is very roomy, but with all the seats up the back end is very small. Only having the car one year it has been in the shop 6 times for computer problems. Gas gauge was not reading fuel level right, back windshield wiper works sometimes and sometimes dosn't, when I put the car in reverse it makes a clunck and ding ding sound, and has stalled on me 4 times at a light. I have taken it in and the only thing they have fixed is the gas gauge and the driving shaft for the clunck noise. The windshield wipers worked when they inspected it so they did nothing about that, the stalling at lights they have hooked it up to thier machine to get a reading and can not find anything wrong. It has been a real hassle taking this in 6 times in a year. I do not recommend this car (at least this year 2004)
Pros: soundsystem is nice
Cons: stability is very poor...sideairbags are useless
Advice: if your buying one, dont get a sideairbag.or add onstar...its uselessBe very careful when driving and turning or just changing lanes. Stability is very poor, I was in an accident because of this. I have a side airbag option and it did not deploy eventhough my doors were crushed. I fractured my left arm .Obviously the sideairbags did not help me at all. Onstar was not there either to respond to my call. My car was 2 months old when it happened , Make sure get a disclosure about sideairbags if they try to sell you one. We're not buying another GMC ever.We lost our trust in them.
Pros: Leather Interior and 7 passenger seating
Cons: SQUEAKING and Electrical Issues (both rear window motors out/4WD switch out in 30K miles)
Advice: Good truck, check the value with other 7 passenger seating/gas mileage similaritiesPowerful - Enjoyed the height of the vehicle over a mini-van I had previously owned.
Pros: Pick Up
Cons: Do you have all day!
Advice: Consider paying extra for a Honda/Acura.Where do I start, Junk, Pure Junk! 1.Memory mirrors have had memory chip replaced 4 time and have only worked consitently for 2 months. 2.Paint is coming off all control knobs on steering wheel, replaced once and doing the same thing again. 3.Battery acid leaked out of battery and ate through power cables. Had to get towed to dealer. 4. Car power would just cut off at around 60mph on a recent trip. Bad gas pump in gas tank had to be replaced($800..... Just plain cheep materials and workmanship. It seems like everytime I go to the mailbox I have another Recall letter from GMC, if I recall (get it) I think we are at 8 letters. This was the fist and last American designed/manufactured vehicle I will purchase. I should have stayed with Acura!
Pros: The Silver Metallic Green color with the running boards, the Bose stereo system, seat memory, the ride.
Cons: The pedals, didn't get the adjustable ones. Interior cabin storage. Placement of the Horn compared to the other gadgets, onstar, mileage, consumption gages.
Advice: If you need extra cargo, passenger space, and a comfortable ride, this is the car for you. The onstar feature is an added safety featureWe looked at several vehicles at the 2003 auto show in San Francisco. The BMW X5, Lexus GX470, Buick Rainer, Cadillac SRX and the Envoy. We test drove a 2004 Envoy and were very impressed with the ride and handling. Then my daughter and I saw an Envoy XL in the Silver Metallic Green. We looked at it up close and fell in love. We didn't purchase the 2003 model because it was too new and all the kinks were not worked out. All reviews that I read on the 2003 had some minor problems. The 2004 Envoy XL that we purchased handles very well. After a week or too it was a little noisy around the Driver's window, I discovered that they put the wrong molding on at the factory. We had it replaced and now the ride is silent. The acceleration has improved with driving, so it is much faster, hard to keep it under 65 MPH. I wish they had allowed more storage in interior. Only one pocket on back seat, no place for headphones, DVD's, remotes, etc. An armrest is needed in second row seat, or it should have been a bench bucket.
Pros: The space, the power, and the specs!!! Love the split third seat!!!
Cons: Sometimes clumsy getting kids in and out of the 3rd seat.
Advice: Handles great, fits great in standard 2 car garage, power to tow!! Split 3rd row; get the XL!!Drove smooth and power on command!!!!
