Pros: Radio
Cons: the entire car
Advice: DO NOT BUY
I bought one of these vehicles and it was the worst decision of my life. It has had constant problems from alternator, ac, to radiater all befor I even hit 50k miles. Now I had bought the extended warranty from Ford and they had guranteed me when I bought it that it covered everything except normal wear and tear such as belts, hoses, filters, found out that was a lie and radiater wasn't covered. The mechanics at the local ford dealer assured me when I asked them to check the alternator since the lights kept dimming and radio kept shutting off while driving and they told me they did and it was fine then got stranded the very next day when it went out completely, which isn't good when its summer and you live in phoenix. Please do yourself a favor do not buy their vehicles. I even contacted the corporate office and to make a long story short they don't stand by their vehicles that cost under $25k.Pros: NOTHING
Cons: THE TRANMISSION
Advice: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE
This thing sucks The tranmission went out at 40,000 miles. Not to mention the excessive vibration at idle drove me nuts. Oh yeah 3600 dollars was the cheapest i could find to fix the tranmission. That is half of what the car is worth now. Also realy poor resale value. Had to have the radio replaced twice. If you are over 5'9' you are going to be real uncomfortable. The car is real slow to respond. The tires are expensive to replace for the size of car the chaepest quality i could find 89.99 per tire. Also if going to change the oil yourself warning the oil filter is right below thw altenator. Which has no protective cover on the pole. To make along story short I had to use a wrench to get the filter off because my wife took it to a oil cahnge place. Yeah they put the filter on to tight. You do the math I had to replace the 100 amp main fuse. luckly I did not die but my arm was numb for about an hour.Pros: the look
Cons: tranni goin out, wierd tape deck hard to change out
Advice: DO IT
I believe ford zx2s went out with a bang! They did great on this one. I have owned the car since 03, so 3 years. Still great, only major problem was trannie went out once because of me ridining it hard and the second time is because the dealership didnt know what it was doing. I LOVE THIS CAR. Also it is fairly easy to customize; ie body kits, turbos, ect. So I give it an all around great buy!Pros: The accelleration power/speed.
Cons: The wind & road noise
Advice: Look for a manual transmission to maximize accelleration performance.
Road & wind noise is loader than I would expect for a new vehicle.Pros: price i paid, 8,100 for deluxe model, styling, cd player
Cons: limited cargo
Advice: great buy..get all the rebates you can from ford and dealer
i found the car to have good accelleration and good handling..though not a sports car..is fun to drive. relatively quiet..good power and response on freeway..quality seems good so far.nimble with quick turning capabilitiesPros: It's fast
Cons: It's small back seat
Advice: If you are looking for a good reliable car that doesn't cost a lot buy this one!!!
So I read the reviews below about how this car isn't so great and people have had problems, well I for one haven't had any at all. I've had this car for over 2 years and there's 52,000 miles on it and I haven't had to take it in for anything but routine maintenance. And plus, do you remember what you paid for it? It's not made to be a luxury car. I think that it's a great car for the price you pay, and it's cute too :O)Pros: Gas mileage
Cons: Lack of overall quality
Advice: Get a Honda, or Toyota, same price way better quality!
We bought this car because of it's good looks and Fords 0% for 5 years. What a mistake, should have bought a Honda or Toyota. This car is very un-refined in materials, workmanship, and engineering. We have had this car in the dealership several times for driver window being loose, severe engine viberation, starting problems in cold weather, and a few other miner things. And all of these problems still exsist. Dealership sais thats just the way the car is I call B/S..This car only has 11,000 miles on it, our Tundra has 12,000, not one problem or complaint, No more Fords for me thanks!!
