Ford's lineup for law enforcement is impressive to say the least with the Taurus-based Police Interceptor, Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility, and the special service Expedition and F-150. Well there is another vehicle joining Ford's law enforcement lineup and its called the Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle (PTV).

Ford collaborated with Pennsylvania-based Havis Prisoner Transport Solutions and their Police Advisory Board to create this transporter. The Transit PTV features all the items needed to get prisoners from point A to point B with high security doors and restraints. The PTV also takes advantage of the Transit's considerable configuration options which includes two wheelbases, three lengths and roof-heights; and four body styles - not to mention the three engine choices that includes the 3.7L flex-fuel V6, 3.2L PowerStroke Diesel, and 3.5L EcoBoost V6.

"Transit PTV is the latest example of Ford's deep commitment to helping provide law enforcement agencies with capable vehicles. This concept proves Transit is upfit-ready and designed to Built Ford Tough standards," said Jonathan Honeycutt, Ford police marketing manager. "Many Police Advisory Board members have had the chance to drive this vehicle and they are excited about it. This new vehicle is tough, smart and efficient – ideal for the needs of law enforcement agencies."
