Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Interior quality
Cons: A slightly higher performance engine
Advice: Take one for a test driveIt was time to change from the minivan to a more gas efficient and reliable car. I needed to be sure that this new car would accomidate my kids (8 and 14)in the back comfortably. The Freestyle did just that. I was very impressed with the interior quality and the quiteness of the ride. The new transmission technology is very cool. The price was just right. We bought the SE model because we really did not need the extra bells and whistles but they are there if you want to spend the money. one slight drawback. The Freestyle is slightly underpowered but outperforms all others in its class. (Pacifica) but dont let that stop you. Go and take it for a drive, you will want to buy one.
Pros: Overall quality of the ride - smooth and quiet.
Cons: Some dashboard buttons (heating) are a bit sticky.
Advice: Borrow one from the dealer for a day and decide for yourself.I've just traded down from a 2002 Expedition (my second Expedition) and while I liked that SUV I found that more and more often I was the only passenger. The Freestyle is the perfect 'transition' vehicle for me as it provides some SUV benefits like height and cargo space, while at the same time it's much easier on gas and provides a more car-like (versus truck-like) driving experience. It's quiet, comfortable and has all the features I want in a car/SUV. My Freestyle is loaded and to date I'm very satisfied with fit & finish and the overall driving experience -- city and highway. And yes, the CVT transmission is awesome (all things being relative).
Pros: AWD for 6 passengers at a great price & loads of trunk space without putting seats down
Cons: Lots of dashboard reflection glare, no armrests, & no auxiliary line in for my ipod
Advice: Test drive on a sunny day to make sure the glare doesn't bother youWe were tired of the minivan and didn't want a gas guzzling SUV - but with 4 children, there were no other choices - until now. This car has everything a family needs at a great price.
Pros: Sitting high in the drivers seat.
Cons: Cloth seats need to look a little classier.
Advice: Get leather interior - it looks much nicer and really finishes off the inside of the car.I had driven the Toyota Highlander, which I was very disappointed with, right before going to the Ford dealer. When I got behind the wheel of this car, I could not believe it. The transmission is AWESOME. SO smooth! The inside is roomier than you would think. It easily and very comfortably accomodates 7 adults. We got it loaded, including a DVD player at a great price. Super easy flip up seats. Sits low enough to not be too high (like an SUV), but high enough that I can easily get my 22 pound infant into his car seat and not wrench by back doing it. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who has children.
Advice: WARRANTY EXTRA BUMPER 2We had driven the following TOYOTA 4RUNNER AND HIGHLANDER CHRYSLER PACIFICA SATURN VUE WE WERE LOOKING FOR GOOD MILEAGE, DEPENDABILITY, AND A LUXURIOUS FEEL. THE FREESTYLE GAVE US ALL THREE WE ORDERED OURS IT WILL ARRIVE BEFORE CHRISTMAS THE PRICE WAS GOOD OUR 2000 EDDIE BAUER EXPEDITION WAS GETTING ABOUT 13 MPG THE FREESTYLE ABOUT 13 MPG MORE WE LIVE IN LOUISIANA AND DRIVE A LOT WE NEED THE MONEY
Pros: Driver seat comfort and views.
Advice: Take it for a driveHad to test drive this soon as a model hit the dealer floor and I wasn't disappointed. Quick pickup, smooth driving with CVT and responsive braking. The seats are really comfortable, lots of head room and great views from the driver seat. Really flexible with all the seats and how they easily fold down. Turn radius great considering the large tires and tight wheelwells. I think Ford has a winner here.
