Cons: constant vehicle failures while it is still 'new'
Advice: Do your research and shop around other car dealershipsWe have purchased the minivan on August of 2005. Ever since our purchase, the factory built in DVD player stopped working, the front brake pads were squeeking and after it has been changed to 'top of the line pads' the squeeking is gone but brakes are still not fulfilling its duty , and now transmission failure! Wow, what a 'great' vehicle.
Pros: Roomy interior
Cons: performance (brakes, acceleration, control)
Advice: Buy a Dodge Grand Caravan. The braking is the worst I have ever seen in my life. the steering wheel won't stay straight and it gets tiring really quick. We hit the back of a Dodge truck and had to get a new bumper. We were only going 5 MPH and it ruined it. The owner of the truck was nice enough to let us go because the truck had 1 little scratch on the bottom of it's bumper. We bought it because we needed a van at the time and it was the cheapest one we could find. We regret this mistake!!! We eventually sold it and got a Grand Caravan. It's the best car we have ever owned.
Pros: The power liftgate
Cons: No Navigation, and windows dont go down in middle rows
Advice: Look at more better minivans like the Toyota SienneI really like my ford freestar limited with the turn signals in the mirrors and the power liftagte and leather seating. I also love the heated seats and 3 zone air conditioning, its awsome. I like the 6 disk cd changer and the dvd system my kids love it. I also love the 18 inc tires and power sliding doors.
Pros: Lots of room
Cons: Poor construction
Advice: DON'TI leased the Ford Freestar in MArch of 2004. I'm glad I leased as I will take great pleasure in returning this piece of junk. In the 18 months I have owned this vehicle: 1) the heating fan broke 2) the gas pedal FELL OFF in 65 mile an our traffic causing me almost to be killed by a semi as I could not control the speed of my car because there was no pedal!! 3) The mechanism that controls the side mirrors broke - so back to the dealer again!! 4) the van is NOISY! When the windows are open you can't hear yourself think. 5)A high pitched whistle has developed in the front end of the van that will make you nuts.Dealer can hear it but can't pinpoint the source. 6) no less than 5 pieces of the van have fallen off and had to be fixed, including the brake pedal top, the back top rear selt belt holder, the inside trim on the passenger door, etc. 7) the 'safety doors sensors' that are supposed to keep the sliding doors from shutting on little fingers don't work I have written 2 letters to Ford (both unanswered or even acknowleged) and complaints to my dealer go unheeded as they are 'assembly issues' My dream car has turned into a nightmare. I love the roominess of this vehicle and the third seat is very easy to put down or up. But the van as a whole is a poorly constructed piece of junk.
Pros: the ride
Cons: 2nd row seats are a bit out of place, I would advise captains' chairs.
Advice: Test drive it and see for yourselfThis is our family's fifth minivan and is by far the most quiet of any GM, Dodge, or Ford minivan that we have had. It is very responsive in all manuevers and is very smooth otherwise. Having had a windstar before, I was very pleasantly surprised at the overall experience of this van,and the rebates and discounts made it very attractive.
