2005 Ford Five Hundred - SE (100A) FWD

    Pros: Trunk space

Cons: Just got a notice from Ford saying that they acknowledge the excess wear and tear on rear brake pads so I plan to get a refund on the pads and rotors that needed to be replaced at 22

Advice: Prepare for many minor problems but a good overall ride. Once the sedan gets moving it's got good power

The 'command seating' takes some getting used to since it's unusual to be seated so high in a sedan. Try to test drive on a highway or freeway to see if it has enough pick-up for you.

2007 Ford Five Hundred - SEL (110B) FWD

    Pros: dual climate controls

    Cons: exterior styling

Advice: buy it, it is built on a volvo S80 chassis, and is very sturdy and safe

This car has a 3.0L dohc v6 with a smooth 6 speed transmission. Acceleration from 0-40 is ok but is best at speeds between 60-80. It is extrmely quiet, comfortable, and handles very well. The car comes with a lot of features found on a more high end automobile.

2005 Ford Five Hundred - Limited (120A) FWD

Pros: lots of room, comfortable, blind spots are minimal

Cons: rear pads went out at 45,000, caliper siezed when re-installing, had to replace it. All in all, since it is new, there are no aftermarket components yet making all replacement parts very expensive.

Advice: do not ever buy a first year model. nobody has parts or a history of experience on repair.

70,000 miles and transmission is gone. yes, i should've flushed the tranmission at 35,000 but for it to break down? so far i can't find ANY mechanic that believes this is acceptable. 6-speed automatic

2005 Ford Five Hundred - Limited (120A) FWD

    Pros: Command Seating

Cons: Windshield wiper controls are on the opposite side & dimmer switch is a little difficult

Advice: RUN don't walk to get one!

I traded in my '04 Supercrew for an '05 Five Hundred Limited FWD w/29k miles on it. I have driven a truck for the last 15 years, so this was a big step - getting back into a car. I researched the Five Hundred a long time before buying and I was not disappointed. I love the 'command seating'. I don't feel like I am sitting on the road like with most cars. The car is quiet, comfortable, good fuel economy and handles great. The power is sufficient but I think the 3.5 duratec engine coming out in the '08 models will make this car perfect.

2006 Ford Five Hundred - Limited (120A) FWD

    Pros: INTERIOR / WOODGRAIN ACCENTS

Cons: NEED ROOM FOR MY PURSE

Advice: BEWARE OF INSURANCE DISCOUNT FOR THE ANTI-THEFT PERIMETER ALARM

FORD HAS COMEBACK WITH A WINNER!!!....Drove home with the 2007 lmtd... LOVE,LOVE,LOVE! IT'S A KEEPER. Never gave it a second look on the internet, but looks better in person. My first impression was 'Tauras the sequel' . Don't judge a book by it's cover. To all the 'classy ladies' out there, this car has style and class.

2005 Ford Five Hundred - Limited (120A) FWD

    Pros: Jet black color

Cons: Doesn't posses great pick-up off the line compared to other sedans.

Advice: seriously beware of this car unless you have money to throw away

Within 1 yr of owning this vehcile it has been in the shop three times for transmission problems (the valve body had to be replaced)This caused the car to buckle whenever I tried to accerlarate and made driving a hazard on the highways. It has been in 3 additional times for problems with the steering column. It would make a crunching noise when turning into parking spaces. My rear turn lights blow out every 3 to 5 months. And of all things I have never had a car depreciate at the rate of this one. I guess the old time saying Fix Or Repair Daily is what FORD really means. Needless to say this will be the last American made car that I buy.

2005 Ford Five Hundred - SEL (140A) AWD

    Pros: roomieness

    Cons: car mileage

Advice: don;t buy it as the car depreciated 10,000 in one year

The Ford 500 drives very nice. The sedan is very comfortable and with all the bells and whistles it is an excellent vehicle. The problem we have is the gas mileage--The car gets between 15 and 22 miles per gallon and with gas prices rising this is becoming costly. Looked to trade it in and the dealership only wanted to give us 17,000 for a 2005 with 12,000 miles. The car was purchased for 27,000 and 10,000 in depreciation for one year is rediculus.
