    2003 Ford Explorer - Eddie Bauer 4.0L (150A) 4x2

Pros: 17' wheels / Exterior look

    Cons: No complaints so far

Advice: The third row seats sucks if you don't have a family

After owning a 1998 explorer XLT and dealing with all the problems I had with it, I was ready to give up on Ford all together. That is until I test drove a 2003 Eddie Bauer. Ford has improved the entire vehicle in my opinion. The biggest noticeable improvements would have to be the exterior look, the ride, and power. I would recommend to anyone looking to buy a mid-sized SUV. And thank you ford motor Co for redeeming yourself!

    2003 Ford Explorer - XLS 4.0L (100A) 4x2

Pros: Cargo room and back-seat room

Cons: Automatic----shifts on steering wheel, prefer console shift. A small matter, though.

Advice: Take the family along for their opinions

Comfortable and roomy, back-seat passengers have more than adequate leg room and sitting room, handles well, turns in tight radius, easier on gas than previous vehicle (Toyota RAV4 4WD), $100 less in insurance per 6 months, power for quick entry into traffic, interior has less fancy gadgets, etc., than previous vehicle but offers ease of operation, holds stable in turns. For my own personal needs, it is great.

    2003 Ford Explorer - XLT 4.0L (120B) 4x2

    Pros: the seat adjustment

Cons: the way the dash is arranged

Advice: i would definetly consider an explorer over other suvs.

i traded a trailblazer and thought it drove good until i drove the explorer. its a much better ride and it is built alot better than the trailblazer. i will never buy anything but a ford suv now.

    2003 Ford Explorer - Limited 4.0L (260A) 4x4

    Pros: None

Cons: Sluggish, insufficient cargo and passenger room, optional 3rd row seat, overpriced, can not get both cassette and DVD.

Advice: Go with the Trailblazer EXT LT 4X4 instead!

When my boyfriend and I decided to look for and buy this SUV, we checked and drove this one. It is overpriced. It has insufficient cargo and seating room. It lacks enough h.p. and torque. I found for less, I could get an equally equipped Trailblazer EXT LT. It is the same gas mileage. And it has more h.p. and torque. Plus, it has more cargo and seating room. And it is better for hauling and towing. I gotboth a stereo with both cassette and CD and a DVD entertainment system with it. To get the Explorer with the DVD, I would have had to forget cassette. Or vise versa. I chose and suggest buying the Trailblazer EXT LT 4x4 instead.

    2003 Ford Explorer - Eddie Bauer 4.0L (350A) AWD

    Pros: the vehicle size

Cons: the front passenger side grip handle

Advice: shop several dealers to get your best price

As a previous owner of two older style Explorers, I can honestly say the new Explorer platform is much improved. The ride and handling has greatly improved. The interior is somewhat roomier. Inside cabin noise has been reduced. Ford did a good job of improving on a popular vehicle.
