Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Good stability on curves
Cons: Information Center Display
Advice: Check the information center display during daylight hours with lights on and off.
The 2002 has a serious safety problem. The information center read-out is in the lower right hand corner of the dash board and is unreadable in bright light or snow covered highways. When a driver takes eyes off the road to get a mileage or trip read-out it requires a long look before the dim figures can be read--if at all. If headlights are also on during daylight driving it is basically impossible to read the information center data. The design is extremely dangerous!Pros: Smooth Ride and Classy Styling.
Cons: Wind Noise, Poor Gas Mileage and Hard Seats
Advice: Buy the V8 . Hardly matters in regard to MPG but makes a big differerence in performance
Rides Great and Very Pleasing To The Eye. The engine and transmission is silky smoothe. Handles like a car and takes bumps extremely well. The V8 is strong and great for exceleration in traffic. It is a gas guzzler but to be expected for this type of vehicle. Its lighting makes for a great night rider. LUV This One.Pros: The quietness of the engine when accelerating, the 3rd row seat and the dual climate controls for driver and passenger.
Cons: The lack of side bolstering on the front seats and the placement of the heated seat bottom.
Advice: If you can afford it, go with the Eddie Bauer or Limited model. They are more attractive in appearance and come with great standard features.
This is a great SUV. Ford did a really good job when redesigning it. It is quiet at highway speeds, rides great, feels good when passing other vehicles, the heated seats keep you warm in cold weather, the 6 disc cd changer is located in the dash, the 3rd row seat is really useful when needing to carry more than 5 passengers, the dual climate controls in front are excellant for people that are of different hot and cold natures, the seperate climate controls for back seat passengers are also great. Like i said before, this is overall just a great SUV.Pros: The 3rd row seating
Cons: Not being able to see the mileage and trip mileage at the same time.
Advice: Go with the V8 model.
I really like to V8 model. It drives very smooth and the steering is great. This vehicles handles just like a car. Easy manuevering (sp?) into spots.Pros: Performance, Features and Towing Capacity
Cons: Sloping cargo area with third seat down
Advice: Avoid the 3rd seat unless you need it.
This LTD version came with all the options and is performing flawlessly since driving it out of the dealership. Great power with the V8 and rides very comfortably. Lots of human engineering went into this new design. The only drawback being the sloping cargo floor when the third seat is down. Rolling objects will fall out when the hatch is opened.Pros: The third seat in the rear
Cons: The placement of the power lock switch in the rear. Its hidden.
Advice: Buy it with the V8 engine. You get more power for towing.
Ford really did it right with the independant 4 wheel suspension and the over all comfort of the vehicle. I love driving it.Pros: 7 PASSENGERM SEATING CAPABILITY
Cons: REAR HATCH DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY ALL OF THE TIME- NEEDS TWO TO THREE TRIES AT TIMES!
Advice: MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL OF THE REBATES AND INCENTIVES THAT FORD IS OFFERING
AS SOON AS I DROVE THE TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME, I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT! THE ONLY DRAWBACK IS THAT THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN BY WIFE EVERY DAY- I ONLY GET TO DRIVE IT ON WEEKENDS! I LOVE THE SMOOTH AND QUICK ACCELERATION AND 'CADDY LIKE RIDE' OF THE NEW SUSPENSION!
