Advice: GRAB ONEThe handeling was grate in hardecorning and is very stable good visabilaty.
Pros: Steering wheel controls
Advice: Questions about reliability of drivetrain. Better quality vehicles out thereBeware of transmission problems mine was acting up about 40000 now I need a replacement at 58000 ($3125.00) Ford has one of the worst warrantys in the business 3yrs-36000 There is something wrong with 2002 and up Explorers transmissions just Google it.
Advice: Beware!Good SUV, but seems really cheap. I cant wait to get rid of it. The brakes churp and dealership says that nothing is wrong. Tje transmission seems to slip every once in a while. Once in 2nd gear there is a rattle and no one seems to know where it comes from. If your someone that hates when little things go wrong, DONT BUY!
Pros: Comfort and roominess
Advice: Stay away from the 2002 Ford Explorer. We are having nothing but trouble with our 2002 Ford Explorer. We have had it in for transmission repair 4 times and the garage tells us that clunking is normal for this transmission. It clunks when you put it in park, when you put it in reverse and drive and when you come to stop at a stoplight. The problem started at 25,000 miles and we now have 29,000 miles and still have the same problem. The service engine soon light keeps coming on.
