The Ford motor Company has issued a massive recall covering 850,050 vehicles due to an issue with restraints control modules which control the operations of certain safety features including front airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and vehicle stability control. According to Ford, the module can short circuit and cause the airbag light to come on and, in severe cases, cause the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners to not work properly in the event of an accident. The good news is that Ford hasn’t found any accidents or injuries related to this issue, and that its dealers are ready to remedy the problem free of charge.

The vehicles involved this recall include:

  • 2013 - 2014 Ford C-Max
  • 2013 - 2014 Ford Escape
  • 2013 - 2014 Ford Fusion
  • 2013 - 2014 Lincoln MKZ
