Excellent tow vehicle
Pros: Towing power & engine brake
Cons: Emission equipment that causes poor MPG
Solid well built truck, Good power, Good brakes, Good towing power . Poor solo milage due to emission equipment. Overall a good truck as long as you work it. It is not a good grocery getter.Pros: The engine 5.9 liters of pure power
Cons: I am told that the resale value typically for Dodge is less than the competitors????????
Advice: You gotta hear that engine roar, Harley has nothing on these guys.
I owned a Ford F-350 for years. 1-ton dually as we show dogs on a regular basis and tow an extremely large fifth wheel trailer in the tri-state area. We live in the snow belt region of PA near Lake Erie. The Ford was 2 wheel drive and was useless in the snow. It sat all winter due to this. I liked the truck because of the diesel engine. Lots of power. We needed four wheel drive truck for year round use. I tried to buy a Ford but the power just wasn't thier. I have never been a big Dodge fan due to a bad experience with a municipal plow truck years ago. I saw this giant red beauty setting in a sales lot and had to try it. I had heard good things and found that all were true. WOW!!!!!can this thing tow and with good fuel economy too. 18 to 20 regular and 11 to 13 MPG towing the trailer. GREAT!!!! The exhaust brake was just icing on the cake and looks are fantastic. This is the dream truck that I have always wanted. I love adding little features to make it look even better. My sons calls it my mid life crisis truck. So what, I love it and it does the job better than the Ford I had.Pros: Both exterior and interior fit and finish are excellent. The attention to detail is obvious in every feature. The design statement that a Ram makes is unequalled, it sense of proportion and aesthetics is unmatched by either Ford or Chevrolet.
Cons: The outside mirrors are not quite as good as the Ford SD.
Advice: You cannot go wrong with this truck. It satisfies in every way and is the most reliable HD truck on the road.
The ride was exceptionally comfortable for an unloaded 1-ton dually truck. Acceleration of the HO Cummins with the 48RE automatic transmission was smooth and the gear ratios were well spaced for optimum performance.Pros: Cummins Motor
Cons: Service and Suspension
Advice: Wait till the 2003 models come out!
This Vehicle Drifts 6'-8' from side to side. Dodge is aware of the front and rear suspension problems that have plagued the Ram trucks for years. I replaced a clutch, preasure plate, etc.. within the first 60 days of use.
