Autobytel reviews the 2014 Dodge Durango with the help of Tom Burgess, the chief engineer for the Durango. Tom Burgess offers insight and detail about the updated Durango’s design process, with information about new and revised features and equipment. The 2014 Dodge Durango has been updated inside and out, and Tom Burgess says that the Durango’s engineering team focused on improving the SUV in three areas in particular. Fuel economy and driving refinement was the first priority, boosting the Durango’s driver experience and enabling the Durango to boast best-in-class fuel economy. Driver interface and electronics was the next priority to upgrade, bringing the electronics up to speed with the latest technology. Safety was the third area on which the Durango team focused, upgrading the vehicle’s existing features to ensure the safety of the Durango’s occupants. This Autobytel walkaround video provides more detail about how the Dodge Durango engineering team accomplished these objectives, and shows what that means for the finished 2014 model year Durango. The 2014 Dodge Durango offers a choice of two powertrains. A 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine option provides best-in-class towing capability and yields 360 horsepower. Not all buyers will need that much power, so the Durango is also available with a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine that produces 295 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
