Pros: the limited slip rear
Cons: paint finish
Advice: drive the chevy then the ford and save the best for last
this truck has pleanty of room and rides nice for a short bed 4x4 i like the 16inch wheels and ride hight and the comfort of this truck for the price my dis like is the fuel injecter tap that is comming for dodge v6 and the paint finish this truck must be a friday built truckPros: The styling and ride of the vehicle
Cons: I am somewhat dissapointed by the AC's cooling ability
Advice: I would recomend the 4.7l matched with the 4sp auto
I have owned my 2002 Dakota SLT Quad Cab now for about 10 mos. and I'm convinced that I made the right decision to purchse this truck. The quality of workmanship, the performance and handling, and the styling are all first rate. I would recomend buying a Dakota to any of my friends.Pros: BEING A MINI VAN
Cons: DARK WINDOW GLASS
Advice: NEGOTIATE FOR PRICE
OKPros: Lots of power from the 4.7 V-8.
Cons: Unsure what the future holds.
Advice: Go with the 4.7 or 5.9 V-8.
At this point I have just over 500 miles on this truck and I love it. It has mean looks, strong V-8 power, good brakes, great steering, etc. I cannot think of a single thing I dislike about it. The fact that my wife loves it as much as I do is another plus. However, I also know that at 500 miles I still have a long way to go before I will know how good this truck will really be to me. If the truck stays good to me, I will be at Dodges side no matter how long I own it. However, I will not stand by and be easy if it turns into a lemon. As you can see by my attitude I have been there and done that when it comes to lemons, so I cannot help being on guard.Pros: The power of the V8
Cons: Climate control fan sounds like a jet and doesn't move much air.
Advice: Look at the Dakota last
I'm a Honda/Nissan fan and I never would have considered a Dodge...until I read consumer reports. Their review convinced me to check out the Dakota. The fit and finish is very good, the materials are excellent, smooth ride, and lots of cargo and people room. And with the long warranty, rebate and financing, I was sold. As other reviews mentioned, get the V8. Same gas mileage as V6, but way more power.Pros: comfort
Cons: distance between back and front seats
Advice: Compare with S-10 and Ranger
Impressed with the comfort of the ride and handling. This truck handles better than comparably priced passenger cars. With the V-6 Magnum engine and an automatic transmission, this vehicle has plenty of power for its everyday use of my means of transportation to and from work, with plenty left over for the weekends of hauling home improvement materials. I highly recommend this vehicle to all consumers looking at Chevy S-10's and Ford Rangers. I had a Ranger, there is no comparison, the Dakota wins hands down!!!
