While the 204-mph Hellcat has captured most of the buzz, the entire 2015 Dodge Charger lineup has been upgraded for the new model year and receives likewise upgraded pricing, with MSRPs that will start at $27,995. Now, that does look like a fairly serious $1,000 jump over the 2014 starter model, but remember, last year's Charger relied on a standard six-speed automatic transmission, and folks had to pay an extra grand to get the sophisticated TorqueFlite 8 eight-speed automatic. This year, that latter gearbox is standard, which means pricing for comparably transmissioned 2015 Dodge Charger SE models actually remains unchanged.

And that's even though the 2015 Dodge Charger family has been restyled inside and out, with each trim grade adding more available content.

For example, moving up the 2015 Dodge Charger SXT editions will provide owners with Uconnect Access for infotainment/connectivity service, 18-inch aluminum wheels and LED fog lamps, all with MSRPs that open at $29,995.

The 2015 Dodge Charger R/T also gains a standard eight-speed automatic transmission, with paddle shifters, and showcases a starting price of $32,995 that further includes 20-inch wheels and a rear spoiler. The "Scat Pack" performance packages that include a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 will raise pricing to $39,995, but also includes 485 hp, 475 lb.-ft. of torque, four-piston Brembo brakes and the Dodge "Performance Pages" technology.

Raising the performance bar even higher are the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT entries, starting with the SRT 392 that opens at $47,385 and includes not just the big HEMI, but also a three-mode adaptive suspension, six-piston Brembo stoppers and a complimentary SRT Track Experience.

Finally, topping the range in terms of performance, pricing and premium features is the amazing 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat billed as "the world's quickest, fastest and most powerful sedan ever." That makes the Hellcat a relative bargain at $63,995, especially considering it offers the following tale of the tape:

  • Engine—6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8
  • Outputs—707 hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Quarter-mile time—11 seconds (with street tires)
  • Top speed—204 mph

The party line from Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge and SRT brands: "The Charger is now tighter, leaner and more athletic, without sacrificing the proportions, performance, driving dynamics, attitude and price that attracted customers in the first place."
