The quickest, most powerful production muscle car ever—the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat—will be stickered from $59,995 when it goes on sale later this year. And with owners getting a full herd of 707 horses for that price, the Hellcat will be the least expensive car in the country with at least 700 hp, then complement that mark with a best-in-class 650 lb.-ft. of torque.

To put just the output/pricing numbers into context, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat fits among some of the country's other top performers as follows:

  • 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat: $59,995; 707 hp, 650 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: $55,110; 662 hp, 631 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Chevy Camaro ZL1: $56,255; 580 hp, 556 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Chevy Corvette Z06: at least $65,005*; 650 hp, 650 lb.-ft. of torque (*Note: Shown is the starting price of the most expensive 2014 Corvette model, and the range-topping 2015 Z06 will certainly be priced above that.)
  • Porsche 911 Turbo S: $182,700; 560 hp, 553 lb.-ft. of torque (with overboost)
  • Lamborghini Huracan: $237,250; 610 hp, 412 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Pagani Huayra: $1,300,000; 720 hp, 737 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Ferrari F12 Berlinetta: $318,888; 731 hp, 508 lb.-ft. of torque
  • SLS AMG GT: $221,580; 583 hp, 479 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Dodge/SRT Viper: $102,485; 640 hp, 600 lb.-ft. of torque

Now, frankly, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is unlikely to perform as well as some of the supercars on that list, since they will have a significant advantage in terms of weight and aerodynamics. But for those drivers looking to maximize the bang for their buck, the Challenger will do just that while also running the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds @ 125 mph, reaching an expected terminal velocity of 199 mph, and ripping of 0-60 sprints in about 3.5 seconds—give or take a tenth.

Starting prices for the rest of the 2015 Dodge Challenger team are as follows:

  • Challenger SXT (with 3.6-liter Pentastar V6)—$26,995
  • Challenger R/T (with 5.7-liter HEMI V8)—$31,495
  • Challenger R/T and SRT 392 Scat Pack models (with 6.4-liter HEMI V8)—$38,495
