The Dodge Challenger has always been a throwback to a certain era. Even modern Challengers have the power to stir up memories of the good old days of muscle cars. Now Dodge is giving us the Dodge Challenger SHAKER, directly from the factory, and Autobytel’s Benjamin Hunting got a sneak peek at this special edition of the 2014 Challenger that evokes the days of carbureted engines. That kind of powerplant works best when it's fed the freshest and coolest air possible, which resulted in a lot of experimentation designed to help get airflow through the hood. A hood like the SHAKER design on this Challenger will deliver plenty of breath to the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 for the best possible power production. The retro styling has obvious appeal, but there are real performance benefits, too. The SHAKER hood aligns the cold air intake directly above the engine to move the air as efficiently as possible, making the most of the HEMI's 375 horsepower. The 2014 Dodge Challenger SHAKER has other exclusive features, too, such as a track-ready performance package with upgraded steering, suspension and brakes. The SHAKER logo also appears on the seats, the touchscreen, and a special plate on the instrument panel to mark each car's production number in the edition.
