2012 Dodge Challenger: Video Road Test and Review

The Dodge Challenger is a two door five passenger rear wheel drive retro styled sports car with power plants ranging from a 27 MPG Pentastar six cylinder engine to a gigantic 392 cubic inch Hemi V8.

The entry level Challenger SXT comes with a 3.6 Liter V6 putting out a total of 305 HP and 268 lb-ft of torque, combined with a 5 speed Autostick, good for an estimated 18 MPG around town and as much as 27 MPG on the highway.  Starting at $24,995 the SXT comes with a AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with USB input for mobile media devices as well as premium cloth seating and a set of 18 inch aluminum wheels.  The $26,995 Challenger SXT Plus is upgraded with Nappa leather trimmed upholstery, Uconnect voice command with hands free Bluetooth connectivity and a six speaker Boston Acoustic stereo system.

The Challenger R/T gets a 5.7 Liter Hemi V8 that produces 375 HP and 410 lb-ft of torque being channeled through a Tremec six speed manual transmission and is good for an estimated 16 MPG in the city and as much as 25 MPG on the highway before reaching the road via an anti-spin rear differential.  All Challenger R/Ts also get a sport suspension and color matching rear spoiler, starting at $29,995.  The $31,795 Challenger R/T Plus gets Nappa leather upholstery, a six speaker Boston Acoustic stereo system and a security alarm to keep it all protected.  The Challenger R/T Classic starts at $33,595 and gets a set of unique 20 inch aluminum wheels, functional hood scoops and HID headlamps as well as a pair of R/T side stripes.

The top of the line Challenger SRT8 392 is powered by a 6.4 Liter Hemi V8 that makes an even 470 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque that is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 MPH in under four seconds, and gets an estimated 14 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway.  The 392 cubic inch Challenger also gets a set of SRT embroidered sport buckets wrapped in Nappa leather with perforated suede inserts as well as a 6.5 inch touch screen media center and rides on a set of 20 inch forged aluminum SRT design wheels housing a set of high performance Brembo clampers and a sport suspension starting at $45,025.
