Cons: No cloth seats for the fully loaded model
Advice: BUY IT :)NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE 2005 GRAND CARAVAN, NOT THE 2004! I looooove my 2005 Grand Caravan. I bought the SXT, fully loaded. After a day in the van and some time reading the instructions, I found all the systems easy to use and logically sorted out. But I live in Phoenix, AZ - so the seat warmers do me no good. When will they invent seat COOLERS? :)
Pros: looks and driving comfort when it isn't in the shop
Cons: constant electrical and mechanical problems
Advice: don't buy itWaited 5 years for this vehicle and what a disappointment. 15 trips to the dealership not including the few to my personal mechanic. Electrical shorts causing mechanical malfunction and shorts in the instrument panel gauges and starter and transmission. Van has died 2 in 2 months and dealer now refuses to take responsibility for repair. If you have nothing better to do than take trips to the service shop, buy one.
Cons: color of interior- lacks imagination- everything is same color.
Advice: ride beats competitionSmooth ride, handles well for a large vehicle.
Pros: 2nd row bucket seats with 3rd. row split. Also power seats.
Cons: with a cup in the front holders ,the cup blocks some dash controls.
Advice: Check out the invoice price from edmonds.com to get best price.I currently have a 2000 with the 3.3 engine. I drove the 2003 Sport with the 3.8 engine the other day and it was smoother, quieter, and much more responsive. The entire ride was noticably better. A pleasant surprise, the fuel EPA rating is the same as my 2000 with the 3.3 engine. The power lift gate and sliding door along with the split fold down rear seat are really convenient.
Pros: AUTO TRUNK AND SIDE DOOR
Advice: TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AGAIN!!!My 2003 Grand Caravan Sport shutters when reversing on the day I bought from Dodge dealer. Bring it in for check up, dealer claims the vehicle is fine=no action taken. The engine is still vibrating on reverse especially on gentle hill. Of course worse on Steeper hill. I decided to prove to the dealer that they need to look into this major transmission problem by driving two new 2003(same model), the vibration is less compared to mine. To our suprise, when I drive the same model but year 2002 (13000 miles), zero vibration. Smoooooooth on reversing!!!! I could not understand why!!! THIS IS A MAJOR SET BACK FOR DODGE!
Pros: the handling and comfort
Cons: power window controls are placed farther away than the lock controls, what do you use more often
Advice: if it is in the budget a tv/dvdwe bought mine in july 2002 and i am absolutely in love.it handles wonderfully, the turning radius is excellent, and thepick up is great.we added a dvd player, which was heaven on our last trip home which was 900 miles.very comfortable for driving long distances, never had a sore hiney.i did not want a van but i have to say i am so glad i got this one.it looks great and runs better than it looks.
