Celebrating 30 Years with the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan

It’s been 30 years and more than 13 million sales since the Chrysler Group launched the world’s first minivan back in 1983, and the company’s current duo will be celebrating in typical industry fashion: When the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country and 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan make their way to dealerships in the fall, they’ll bring ultra-premium 30th anniversary editions chock full of lux features.

“The Chrysler Group is well known as the creator of the minivan, and these 30th Anniversary Editions are the perfect way to celebrate their leadership and longevity in the marketplace,” said Ben Winter, Vice president of Vehicle Engineering. “As the minivan segment and innovation leader, it’s important that we continue to offer tremendous content and value, setting us apart from the rest of the segment.”

Both models—in fact, all Chrysler Group minivans—rely on the automaker’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that’s earned multiple “Engine of the Year” honors and delivers 283 hp and a max tow rating of 3,600 lbs. The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary models are then distinguished as follows, with MSRPs still TBD.

2014 Chrysler Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition

For the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country, the new range-topper is based on the Touring L model and is then spruced up with 17-inch aluminum wheels (complemented by polished faces and Satin Carbon pockets), “30th Anniversary” badging, and a newly available exterior finish, Granite Crystal Pearl Coat. Inside, designers have upgraded the cabin of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country with more premium materials, including seats enhanced by Alcantra inserts and Nappa bolsters, along with piano black accents for the steering wheel bezels and instrument panel, with the latter showcasing a new Light Graystone appearance. Also in the mix are 30th Anniversary logos, an enhanced touchscreen radio, power-folding third-row seats, power-folding mirrors, Chrysler’s Super Center Console, and everything from the T&C’s Driver’s Convenience Group, which bundles: heated first- and second-row seating, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, bright door handles, and Keyless Enter-N-Go technology.

2014 Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition

Things are a bit different over at the Dodge division, where the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition is offered at both the SE and SXT trim levels, to “continue to set the mark in minivan value,” according to the brand. Thus, although the SE features more premium design cues—ranging from a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat to leatherette upholstery to fog lights—each one gets:

• 17-inch polished “Satin Carbon” aluminum wheels
• Body-color and heated exterior mirrors
• 30th anniversary badging and logos inside and out
• Interior style upgrades like silver accent stitching, piano black cabin accents, and chrome vent bezels
• A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
• Power second- and third-row windows
• All the content from Dodge’s Uconnect Handsfree Group, boasting a one-year subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth technology for audio streaming and voice control of certain vehicle systems, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror
