2005 Chevrolet Uplander - LS FWD Extended Passenger

Pros: The SUV-look of the front end

    Cons: On LS model

    Advice: Overall

We really liked the looks of this vehicle. Interior has a good look to it, but a lot of it is plastic. We've had a problem with the front passenger door handle. Dealer fixed once, but getting ready to take it back to be fixed again. We usually buy and keep our vehicles for at least 10 years. Not sure if this one will make it that long with quality. Only time will tell!

2005 Chevrolet Uplander - 1SD FWD Extended Passenger

Pros: DVD & SUV front look

Cons: the rest of the van

    Advice: DON'T BUY IT

I HATE my van! I bought it in May and within 2 weeks, it went back with a list of 6 things wrong with it. #1 - whistling noise from windshield when on the highway #2 - feedback from the DVD player that gets louder with acceleration #3 - idling rough #4 - interior and headlights flickering #5 - drives rough #6 - alignment off (pulling to the right) It is now August, the van has been in the shop 7 times and not one problem from this list has been corrected. To make a very long story short, the dealer's attitude is 'call customer service then' and we tried that venue and I got told that I wasn't being business like on the phone and got hung up on. Nobody seems to care because 'that's what warranty is for' we are told. Well it would be great if it would be fixed right the 7th time. My husband is a mechanic who owns his own shop and they still treat us like we are stupid customers. We are so frustrated and just sick over this because we bought this van and pay over $1000.00 a month on it so if I wanted to trade it in now I would lose a whole lot of money. I am considering it though and just take the loss and go Ford or Dodge. So sad since we have always been dedicated GM people because we live in the GM town and my family works there. I would like to know about other people's problems and if they were corrected properly, how were they fixed so I can tell the dealership how to do their job. Thanks

2005 Chevrolet Uplander - LS FWD Extended Passenger

Pros: OnSTAR - love it - easy to handle van, drive nice and quiet.

Cons: My AC problem with the van and I wish it had more 'power' when driving up a hill.

Advice: Watch the AC unit and look out for possible leaks.

Nice appealing mini van - owned a Venture LS previously for 6 years - planned on buying one again - found this one and really liked it. I had a 'leak' from the luggage carrier, the water came in through the light on the tailgate, this was fixed and the interior carpet was replaced. However, as soon as the summer temperatures went above 85 degrees the van does not cool properly, AC settings on '5' and 'max' front and rear, may get the inside temperature down to approx. 85-88 degrees. AC is not an issue in the AM or at night or if Temp is below 85 degrees. On my prev. Venture - I never had to run my AC higher than '3' hardly ever the rear - Dealership and GM Engineer has not been able to find a problem with this. I like this car - wish the AC could be fixed. Feel free to contact me if you have experienced the same problem.

2005 Chevrolet Uplander - LS FWD Extended Passenger

    Pros: Interior is nice

Cons: All the problems with quality

Advice: Wait a year until the bugs are worked out of this model

After reading the reviews posted here it appears there are some real problems with the Uplander. I also have problems with the lights dimming and getting bright. Side molding has already been replaced once. Loud noise from front at highway speeds. Manual sliding door hard to open and close. GM may have rushed this onto the market.

2005 Chevrolet Uplander - LS FWD Extended Passenger

Pros: clean simple retro dash cluster, dvd player, dual sliding doors

Cons: no repeat controls for dvd player on center dash(stop, start, eject)

Advice: get the second row console!

we love this sport van!, it doesn't look, feel or drive like the last generation of minivans, the styling cues seem to fall somewhere between a yukon and a durango, the standard features make this an excellent buy compared to others in it's class, sure it's not a corvette but it does handle very well, good road feel, pretty good acceleration, great braking, very low body roll for a 'minivan'. well laid out interior.at roughly 6k less than the oddessey, this is the one to buy!

2005 Chevrolet Uplander - 1SD FWD Extended Passenger

    Pros: The overhead rail system.

Cons: Heavyness of the second row captain seats.

Advice: Make sure to purchase the LT model

Very comfortable drive. Console controls in easy reach. Love the power sliding doors. Second and third row of seats can be taken out, what space.....love it. OnStar is the best! Every vehicle should have it.

2005 Chevrolet Uplander - 1SD FWD Extended Passenger

Pros: DVD, ease of radio/XM,CD use on steering wheel, 4 airbags, interior, cargo storage. :)

Cons: not as much room behind the last seats but that doesn't make me hate the vehicle in any way, and I cant see out the furthest back right window with the middle seat up, but you can fix that by folding the seat down.

Advice: I'd agree with others, get at least the LT like we have, yes its a bit more expensive but you just might enjoy that extra money into it.:)

I feel that this vehicle is so much better than our Chevy Venture we traded in. Crash test ratings for our 1998 venture were poor!! That was scary. I read all the negatives on this and I am truly hoping nothing like this happens to us. We now have just about 350 whole miles on it! I don't want to be worried to put 3,000 miles or 4,000 miles on my brand new vehicle! I hope more people write reviews, I do enjoy reading them. I hope our van lasts a long time, I really like it!!!
