    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x2 4dr

    Pros: Overall driving satisfaction

    Cons: The red speedometer needle.

Advice: Too late, they don't make them any more.

I have been delighted with my 4 cylinder 4 door 4X4 Tracker. It fits me to a tee. My only gripe seems a bit trivial but I often cannot readily see the dark red speedometer needle against the black background. My average mileage at 27,695 miles is 27.76 mpg overall, including the little four wheel driving I've done, and the less than two thousand miles pulling a trailer. It has needed no adjustments, no parts, except an oxygen sensor. While some might question my rating the 4 cylinder engine as giving 'excellent performance' it satisfies my needs. If I were interested in 0 to 60 performance I would not have have insisted on the four. Just recently I had cause to drive fast. Without reaching top speed I drove 90 mph and I doubt whether I would have driven faster under the prevailing conditions if I had had a Maserati.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x2 4dr

    Pros: In expensive to maintain.

    Cons: Rear door no hatch.

Advice: Go for it. Very reliable. Easy to maintain.

Our 2003 Tracker is a base 4 Wheel Drive 5 speed w/ a 4 cyl eng. We purchased the car new in 11/03 and we now have 62,000 miles. Average 22 mpg in the city and 25+ on the highway. This is a great car to run to and from work and to run around town. We have taken the car on a few trips that covered three to four hundred miles. Not as bad as we thought. It is basic transportation at its best, cheap to run and maintain. We only recently changed the front breaks, and oh yea we have the original tires with plenty of tread. What is not to like.

    2004 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x2

    Pros: None

    Cons: Unsafe

Advice: Do Not Purchase this Automobile

This is the most unsafe automobile I've ever owned. I am terribly dissappointed in the overall saftey and guality of the Tracker. It will absolutely cause you to loose control while driving in high wind conditions. I have been physically sore trying to keep the Tracker on the Highway in a single lane while driving on windy days. The gas mileage is not what the manufactures claim it will get even while driving on the Interstate non-stop. Highly, unsatisfied customer. Would not recommend to anyone.

    2004 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x4

    Pros: great speakers

Cons: there needs to be more leg room in the back

    Advice: buy one

The Trackers are great other then when it is very windy. You can definately feel the wind moving your car from side to side.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - LT 4x4 4dr

    Pros: CD Player

    Cons: Lack of power

Advice: Do yourself a favor and get the 6 cylinder engine model.

We bought the 4 cylinder model and I'm not impressed with the engine's power. When using the cruise control, it too frequently downshifts, (and jerks while doing so) even when the vehicle is only going up a small incline. Gas mileage is good and everything else is adequate. There are some nice features in the package, including the stereo and power locks, windows, etc. It's a nice vehicle but could use a little more power.

    2004 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x4

    Pros: Nothing

    Cons: Safety is questionable

Advice: I traded it after only one year. Be cautious and know what your getting into.

I bought the 4 cylinder thinking I would get good gas mileage! I got 20 mpg, my new Monte Carlo gets 23 and has a 6 cylinder with power to spare! We get alot of wind in Missouri and this car doesn't handle wind well. I bought the bigger tires hoping it would help with the slipping in rain however even with sand bags in it all year long it still slipped. I really think the Tracker is too light weight and the 4 cylinder engine is too small to carry the weight. I had cruise control but couldn't use it unless the road was flat as it couldn't pull hills with it on. I'd recommend that you think seriously before buying this car.
