The popular Z71 off-road performance package, first introduced for Chevy trucks back in 1988 and a staple of the brand's full-size SUV lineup since 2001, is available now for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. It's a setup that adds even more capability to two of the most capable vehicles in the class, highlighted by:

  • A front skid plate for added underbody protection
  • 18-inch wheels wrapped in off-road rubber for enhanced trail performance
  • Fog lights for improved visibility
  • Front tow hooks (just in case)
  • Premium style cues like a model-specific front grille, running boards, and "Z71" interior and exterior graphics

A front parking-assist feature also is in the mix here, with the Z71 package slated to launch this month specifically for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban LT models. And remember, that trim grade will welcome some other important new content this month, too, including wireless phone charging, a hands-free power liftgate and standard OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with a mobile wi-fi hotspot.

“The popular Z71 package enhances the capable look and feel of the new 2015 Tahoe and Suburban,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Marketing. “It gives customers another choice when it comes to selecting the full-size Chevrolet SUV that’s perfect for their lifestyle.”

Among those other content choices for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are:

  • Magnetic ride control, able to read road conditions and adjust suspension performance in milliseconds
  • Next-gen MyLink infotainment and connectivity technology, complemented by an 8-inch touchscreen and advanced voice recognition
  • A separate dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system with Blu-Ray compatibility
  • A standard 5.3-liter EcoTec V8 engine that provides 355 hp, 383 lb.-ft. of torque and a max tow rating of 8,600 lbs.
  • True body-on-frame construction with a fully boxed perimeter frame
  • The full range of Chevrolet safety measures, including side blind-zone alert, lane-change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, crash-imminent braking and the "Safety Alert" driver's seat that provides tactile warnings in potentially dangerous driving scenarios

Both the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are at dealerships now, with MSRPs of $44,895 and $47,595, respectively.
