The smallest type of vehicle you could get in the U.S. for many years was a subcompact. But within the past few years, a smaller class of vehicle began to arrive. You could call them extra-small compact vehicles, but the proper term is city car. One of these new arrivals is the 2013 Chevrolet Spark.

The Chevrolet Spark is very much a stylish vehicle, despite its small size. Chevrolet designers made sure to incorporate many design cues such as large, angular headlights, Chevrolet’s split level grille, flared front and rear fenders, and a rear spoiler. To make it stand out even more, Chevrolet offers the Spark in such colors as Jalapeño, Lemonade, and Techno Pink.

Inside, the Spark includes a surprising amount of clever design cues and standard features. The instrument cluster takes inspiration from a Motorcycle’s instruments and moves up and down with the steering wheel. The Spark also offers up to 31.2 cubic feet of cargo space when the back seats are folded. Standard equipment across the Spark lineup includes OnStar, air conditioning, driver information center, power windows, 10 air bags, stability control, and traction control. Spark 1LT and 2LT models add a seven-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system and Bluetooth. You can add navigation to your Spark models equipped with the touchscreen via your smartphone by using the BringGo application.

Powering the Spark is a small 1.2L inline-four cylinder engine producing 84 horsepower and 83 pound-feet of torque. That is mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The EPA rates the 2013 Spark at 32 City/38 Highway/34 Combined with the five-speed manual, and 28 City/37 Highway/32 Combined for the four-speed automatic.

Pricing for the 2013 Chevrolet Spark starts at $12,995 for the base LS model with the five-speed manual and rises to $16,820 for the 2LT model with the four-speed automatic. Competitors to the 2013 Chevrolet Spark include the Fiat 500, Scion iQ, and Smart ForTwo.
