Although a custom Colorado or two will no doubt appear there as well, it was the Chevy car lineup—highlighted by a pair of 2015 Chevrolet Sonics—that got featured in the Bowtie Brand's preview for the upcoming SEMA Show. The annual Las Vegas event is the biggest industry-only celebration of the automotive aftermarket in the world and will run this year from November 4-7.

Now, it is true that much of what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, or at least never makes it to dealerships, but automakers also rely on the SEMA event to showcase their street-ready accessories catalogs. That's certainly the case here, with the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic SEMA cars each wearing a mix of go-fast and look-cool aftermarket features from Chevy.

The 2015 Chevrolet Sonic "Performance" concept starts by squeezing out more power from its 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, thanks to a Chevrolet Performance Stage Kit with both cold-air induction and high-flow exhaust systems. Then, to help get that increased output to the road, the car sits on a track-tuned Chevrolet Performance suspension that also lowers the Sonic's stance.

From the style department: a Synergy Green exterior finish complemented by offset white striping, a ground-effects package, white 17-inch aluminum wheels and a variety of Chevrolet Accessories including white headlamp rings, tail-lamp rings, mirror covers, grille surround and rear spoilers, as well as, in the cabin, upgraded sport pedals, door sills and floor mats.

The 2015 Chevrolet Sonic "Accessories" concept is more of a pure design exercise, with a Summit White exterior set off by a matte-black stripe graphic and an alternative set of lamp rings, mirror covers, etc. This concept also dials up the volume inside by adding a Kicker subwoofer and amp to its audio system.

Additional Chevy cars confirmed for the 2014 SEMA Show include a Chevy SS Sport concept that draws on the brand's racing efforts for inspiration, a blacked-out version of the 2015 Chevy Impala, and an RS "Plus" edition of the redesign 2015 Chevy Cruze.

Said Paul Edwards, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing: “Chevrolet’s 2015 passenger car lineup is one of the strongest and most competitive in the industry. They’re personal cars, too, and these concepts suggest possibilities of how to amplify Chevrolet’s heritage of performance and fun-to-drive spirit to make them even more personal.”
