Pros: Quiet ride, electronics such as OnStar, XM Radio, etc.
Advice: It's worth the extra money over other cars in its class.I purchased a new 2008 (yes, 2008) Impala and I'm very impressed with this car. Besides the good looks, smooth ride and mechancs, I clocked nearly 36 miles to the gallon on a 200-mile trip at an even 60 mph. That's very good for a full size, 6 cylinder vehicle. The Impala is a great car if you're lookimg for comfort, dependability and style.
Advice: BUY IT!Lots of spunk! I like the interior layout, simple but sophisticated.
Pros: leather seats
Cons: No auto dim interior mirror
Advice: Try it you'll Like itThis is the third Impala I have owned. They are a great trouble free car.
Pros: The safey of traction contol
Cons: That one would have to step up to the Impala SS model to out perform the Maxima
Advice: You can not get more bang for your buck then selecting an Impala( Model LT3, LTZ,SS)The seats appear a little to firm at first, but I quicky adjust to them and actually now I perfer the. The 3.9 Liter in the LT3 produce really good power and the car performed well in rainy conditions and night. In short I was sold on a one week rental of an Impala . It woulds take something speical for mo go back to a Toyota or Nissan
Pros: Interior comfort
Cons: Some interior plastic.
Advice: Be sure to test drive and consider this one.I am just over 6'4' and I found this car to be one of the most comfotable that I have ever driven. It is much easier to get into than many other models I have tried. It was very comfortable on some long trips (8+ hrs) and the handling is excellent.
Pros: Good appearance & room, gas mileage is decent, crash test results are very good.
Cons: Best have a healthy fund available for repairs after the warranty lets up and GM cuts you loose.
Advice: Look around for a better buy.Generally competent for what it is, but reliability is nowhere near what it should be. I'm thinking GM shares the parts bin with some toy company. Many, many failures initially covered under warranty but that's finished now. Too much nickel & diming on the end quality of the parts. How does a brand new vehicle need the tranny cooler hoses replaced twice? I won't get into the GM intake manifold gasket fiasco.
Pros: The horsepower of this vehicle is awesome
Cons: Torque steer is excessive
Advice: Drive it.The 06 Impala SS is an impressive ride. The fit and finish is excellent. The horsepower is unbelivable for a sedan. The trunk reminds you of a pick up bed. The ride is very firm. Smooth roads are enjoyable, rough roads are not. The fuel economy is very good averaging around 26 mpg. The DOD feature that GM is now adding to the V8's works excellent.
