Cons: No right arm rest
Advice: Nice basic commuter carI bought my 2005 Aveo a year ago. I bought it because of the price and because of the gas mileage. Overall I am pleased with it. It is a much better car than I expected for the price. The gas mileage should be better for such a small car (I average about 30 MPG automatic transmission) but much of my sixty mile daily commute is spent on a Chicago area tollway where you must drive in excess of 70 MPH to avoid being run over. The car is comfortable to drive and has plenty of headroom. It really needs a right arm rest. Can this be retro fit? The only problem I have had was the radio which died within three months of the purchase (replaced by dealer) and the clock which intermittantly stops and has to be reset.
Pros: Cruise control
Cons: Air conditioning vents position
Advice: Be careful with the dealers. This car can get overprice quickly if you don't watch them.I have only had the car 2 weeks so I am still playing with different things. I am finding that the gas mileage is around 29 mpg. This was with my 1st fillup. I drive 100 miles a day to work so I am hoping that I can get it up around 32-34 mpg.
Cons: SKY LIGHTS terrrible terrible terrible!!
Advice: fun to drive and priced right.Purchased 05 Maxx LT w/dvd player. It is fun to drive and handles well have 10,500 miles and took it on 600mile trip handled and drove well the seats got a little uncomfortable the last couple of hrs but over all OK 32miles per gallon going 75-78. You do get road noise. We did not get a remote with the dvd and they said we wouldn't need one but that was not true cuz some movies won't start with out it. Absolutely HATE THE SKY LIGHTS (I call them) over the back seats! That should be an option!!
Cons: Arm rests
Advice: If price is a major issueCouldn't find 2006 review to put in so I'm putting my new 2006 LT sedan here. This is not a Mustang. If you want a commuter car, cheap, it fits. Lots of people say get a bigger car but if I wanted a bigger car, why would I be looking at an Aveo? I found the car had lots of room inside for my 280 lbs and handled very nimble. Mileage should be better for a car this size but for the price range, it is more than satisfactory.
Pros: Gas milage
Cons: Sometimes shifting is difficult to hit right gear.
Advice: With under 4,000 miles and cheap price, I am happyZippy with the manual transmission. Short turning radius, good head room for tall riders and pedels easy to reach for short drivers. Watch for 'creeping'! I first noticed this when I parked at the gas station on a slight incline and as I opened the door to get out, I realized that my car was creeping backward even though it was still in gear and the key removed! Be sure to use to emergency brake if on any type of incline and from what I have read of others experience, you might want to park someplace else or block the wheels if the hill is very steep.
Pros: Distinctive looks.
Cons: Noisy A/C
Advice: Don't hesitate.I bought the manual 5 speed Aveo in September 05 to pull behind the RV. It would be easy to pull and provide fun and economical transportation. It has been that although I discovered after purchase it can't be towed with four wheels on the ground. I had to buy a tow dolly for it. Even though the sticker projected 34 mpg on the highway, I was hoping I could coax more out of it. Not so. I get between 30 and 32 mpg. I love driving the car because of the comfortable ride and nimble steering. I haven't had trouble, but I am expecting trouble from the A/C. It was noisy when new and is getting noisier after 7000 miles. There is a strange smell when the A/C is first turned on.
Pros: Interior room
Cons: Stereo/Underpowerd Engine
Advice: Good overall vehicle (ESPECIALLY for the price)I am really satisfied with this car. Looks like a little toy from the outside, but it changes the second you sit in it. The response from everybody that gets in it is, 'Wow, it's big in here.' I have the 5 door hatch model with the spoiler, and I'm very pleased with the overall look. Victory Red helps, too. :) It is very stable at high speeds (No, I didn't have it at 110 on the interstate!) The controls are very driver friendly. Easy to see around the car and driving it isn't a hastle. Accelerates smooth, but lacks in hp and torque. Good gas mileage on highway, which is what I travel alot. I put a Bazooka tube subwoofer in the hatch, and it sounds Amazing! I suggest it for a cheap and easy solution to the turd stereo system. However, the MP3 player is great! Get power, because you HAVE to lock the drivers door with the key if you don't. Great car for around 10,000 bucks! Can't beat it. Any questions about it, email me email@example.com
