Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Horsepower, Torque, Speed, Looks, Cost ratio per performance
Cons: Body panel fittments.
Advice: Buy it, you will NOT be dissapointed !I picked up my Millenium Yellow Z06 in Sept 02. Currently have 2800 miles on it. I am a very lucky person as I get to drive the Z on the German Autobahn.WOW ! This car is powerful and beatiful, but at the same time as docile as a Honda Civic. Now if you plant your right foot towards the floor board, this car becomes a totally new personality. Rip snorting, tire squealing beast from Hell ! The interior is very good. Ergonomically laid out very well. I thought that the HUD would be a distraction, but after driving with it I believe EVERY car should have one. You do not have to take your eyes off the road to know what the car is doing internaly. Very dangerous at Autobahn + speeds. The quality of the body panel alignment could have been better. But it's not so bad that it screams look at me, my body panels are out of alignement. You don't really notice until you're up close & persoanl during the wash & wax. The car sticks to the road like rolling on felcro. Getting the rear end to swing out is very difficult. I have so much fun on the off ramps and in the round abouts.I can actually go so much faster there than most other people. They say it can generate a 1+ G-force in the corners, I believe it. I've owned a lot of other 'muscle' cars in the past, but this is the best that America has put together thus far. I test drove the others I listed here, but the Z06 just won my heart over. They all are good cars, all with a different mission. The Z06 is just my choice for mission accomplishment. :-) This car is a definite attention getter !
Pros: heads up display
Advice: everyone will want to drive itsmooth shifting- quick acceleration-style just hold on and buckel up
Advice: dont miss outthe best possible buy for the buck awesome vechicle
Pros: acceleration and handling
Cons: getting in and out
Advice: shop smart-there are deals from the right dealerHave had the car 4 months so I write with a few miles to judge from. The car is the most exciting I have ever driven (did not test drive the exotics-was not in the over $100K market!). Combines comfort, awesome acceleration and handling for a complete package. Check it out before you buy any sports car in the $50K range.
Cons: no fog lamps
Advice: Buy it if you can afford it, you will smile from ear to ear.I purchased the 2003 Corvette Z06 and have only driven it about 90 miles. I can say those 90 miles was a thrill. I will say you will have NO problem merging into interstate traffic. It is one fast automobile right out of the box. The interior is about the same as my 2000 Corvette, so it was no problem in getting in and driving away. The 'heads up' display is really nice, you are able to keep your eye on the road and still keep track of your speed, RPM's fuel etc. It is not distracting in the least, either day or night. It shifts really sweet, and the steering is great. Great car, worth the money.
Pros: Heads up display.
Cons: I can't think of any.
Advice: Go for it!!! We only live once, so have fun!I have dreamed of owning a red Corvette when I turn 50. I just couldn't wait for another year so my husband and I drove to a Corvette Dealership and test drove a torch red coupe and bought a brand new one. It is so much fun driving the Corvette and I have even seen people take a picture of the car on the freeway while we're driving.
Pros: Heads-up Display and the rest of the car!
Cons: The cup holder
Advice: Drive as many cars in this class as possibleI test drove the car one Saturday in June and I was hooked. It has to be the fastest and best handling car that I ever owned or drove and I have had many, from the muscle cars of the sixties to now. The acceleration is unbelievable. The handling is something that you have to experience to really appreciate. The Z06 rides somewhat stiffer than the convertible and Coupe but thats to be expected from a car of this caliber. I have seen complaints about this on other reviews, but in defense of the Z06, I have to say if you want a smoother ride and a sports car, than consider the coupe or convertible. All in all if your looking for the ultimate sports car and you don't mind dropping $50 grand test drive one and I think you'll be hooked too.
