To help celebrate National Teddy Bear Day—and, more importantly, raise the profile of September as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month—a mini caravan including a drop-top 2015 Chevy Corvette and an all-new 2015 Suburban recently made a special delivery to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan: 49 special stuffed bears, including one so big that it had to ride in the passenger seat of the 2015 Chevy Corvette Convertible—with its top down.

The bears were presented to the young cancer patients by three members of the GM Asset Management Team, cancer survivors themselves, and were part of a larger, week-long community-service program from General Motors called the GM Cares week.

Said Sean Graham, director of Investment Operations for GM Asset Management and a volunteer in the teddy-bear caravan: “As someone who believes in the power of charity and altruism, as well as one who has been impacted by the effect cancer has had on my family, I am excited to participate in this donation and partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering. I hope we are providing as much of a benefit to these children and staff as we are receiving by giving back in this small way.”

Note: While the four dozen "regular-sized" teddies will go to the children, the big bear that co-piloted the 2015 Chevy Corvette will be delivered as a sort of mascot to the Sunshine on Wheels program. An effort from one of GM's charitable partners, Sunshine on Wheels is specifically devoted to supporting children who are undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
