Sports cars are among the most noticeable cars on the road with a flashy appearance that matches their quick performance, but the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette can also boast being the most satisfying as it was named the top-rated sports car in AutoPacific's 2012 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA). Topping the list of some of the most well-known and iconic cars on the market, the Chevy Corvette took home the best-rated sports car status by providing the best overall ownership experience, according to the 75,000 customer surveys. Being the highest-rated sports car doesn't necessarily mean that the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette is the fastest car of the bunch, but we're sure there are plenty of satisfied Corvette owners who might disagree with that.

Top-Rated Sports Car: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette

Owners likely named the Chevrolet Corvette as the top-rated sports car due to its heritage, iconic styling, impressive performance and wide range of available models. On the verge of its 60th anniversary, the Chevy Corvette is already one of the top performance cars on the market, but an updated interior for 2012 undoubtedly helped position the Corvette as the best-rated sports car for the VSA. This new interior includes new seats, a sportier steering wheel and padded armrests for optimal comfort. As expected from the highest-rated sports car, the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette delivers plenty of performance with models that range from the 430-horsepower base model up to the 638-hp Corvette ZR1.

Top-Rated Sports Car: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Competitors

Grabbing the status of top-rated sports car, the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette edged out other performance coupes including the Jaguar XK, Porsche 911 and Audi TT. The vehicle set that vied for the best-rated sports car was definitely very diverse with a mix of high horsepower machines (like the Corvette and XK) going up against lighter, nimbler cars with less power output (like the TT and Mazda MX-5 Miata). In the end, though, the 2012 Chevy Corvette drove off with the VSA for the highest-rated sports car thanks to its combination of attributes giving it great performance, well-balanced handling and a recognizable Corvette styling that has evolved from the original car that debuted in 1953.
