'04 Z06 'BEST VETTE YET'
Pros: LS6 motor, especial How it piulls in 1st and 2nd gears to redline.(engine and exhaust sounds are such sweet music).
Cons: Seats & interior pieces , 1-4 shift skipI've owned many new Corvettes, Ferrari's , Porsche's and BMW's , but as far as dependebility, looks, and performance are concerned non can match my '04 Z06, with heads up, black w /special black/red intrior upgrade, wheel and tire upgrades. For the most part it.s bone stock as it came from the factory.' It looks better and is quicker by far than most cars costing 2 x's it's price. I replace the air filter and Mobil 1 synthetic (5W 30) every 2500 mi (never burned a drop btn changes). It's got new Toyo R1's , easily gets 18 city and 25 hgwy. The factory black paint even when new sucked, and at 40K mi, it needs a good deep cleaning/acid wash to remove wax buildup. All and all I'm hard pressed to find anything that looks as good or performs as well for the price . I'm currently looking for a replacment as I want to get down to one everyday driver. It will be hard to sell my Z06 especially after the great times and all of the smiles it's put on my face. I still get thumbs up every day and not just from other Corvette drivers. Lets get back to basics.. A Corvette under 50 grand, with a bit of cam shake/ sound (ala-) 63 fulie or '67 427/ 435, exhaust howl, round gauges, split window, and seats befitting a LEGEND! .
Cons: radioMy wife scoffs when I say that it is actually practical. This car has great performance (except on snow), is great looking, has been trouble-free and has a surprisingly large trunk.
Pros: heads up display
Cons: run flat tire noise
Advice: buybest car on the road for the money.fast, handles like a dream, and gets 27 mpg on the highway....
Pros: Balanced performance
Advice: With the C6 coming out soon the 2004 Corvette (C5) is a bargainThis car is fun to drive, comfortable, rattle-free and relatively quiet. As expected the handling and performance are exceptional. My car has the 4-speed automatic with the Performance Axle (3.15 ratio) option. If you don't go with the 6-speed manual transmission then the performance axle is the way to go. There is a noticeable difference in performance between the stock gear ration (2.73) and the performance ratio. My previous Corvette was a 1990 6-speed. It had a rough ride, rattled a lot, was noisy, and would make you feel tired after driving it for an hour. This car is nothing at all like that. My 2004 Corvette is a joy to drive and you feel refreshed rather than exhausted when you are done. The build quality is very good. The only thing that was wrong on mine is a paint drip on the lower portion of the driver's door. Because of problems with other cars related to painting (e.g., rattles probably caused by removal of door handle hardware) I decided to just live with this. It is about an inch long and not noticeable. The 2005 Corvette looks like a big step forward, but the 2004 cannot be faulted. It is a great car that can be found with big discounts, making it all that much more appealing.
Cons: New body style due out within six months
Advice: Get the convertableFun to drive, lots of power and handles like it is on rails.
