The Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE is a special edition of the retro-themed muscle car that adds several performance upgrades cribbed from the more expensive Camaro ZL1 in order to provide a more well-rounded driving experience.  In addition to its under-the-skin improvements, the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE coupe also introduces a number of styling tweaks that further set the car apart from the standard SS trim.  The Camaro SS 1LE comes standard with safety features such as side curtain airbags that run the full length of the vehicle's passenger compartment, dual forward airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, electronic stability control and traction control, and the OnStar telematics and accident response system.

The Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE features a 6.2-liter V-8 as its only engine option.  The motor produces the same 426 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque as it does in the SS, and it is paired with a short-throw six-speed manual transmission.  Drivetrain changes include the ZL1 dual-mode exhaust system, a more aggressive final drive ratio, special shocks, thicker stabilizer bars, a front strut tower brace, and variable electric power steering.  Fuel mileage for the V-8 Camaro is listed at 16-mpg in stop and go driving and 24-mpg on the highway.

The Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE (MSRP $37,035) offers the MyLink smartphone integration system, Bluetooth connectivity, heated mirrors, fog lights, power adjustments for the front seats, power windows and door locks, air conditioning, keyless entry, and 20-inch rims.  Special 1LE features include a front splitter, a flat-black hood, a rear spoiler, and high performance tires.

Comparable cars include the Audi S5, the Ford Mustang Boss 302 and the Dodge Challenger SRT8.
