The Honda Earth Dreams 2.4 liter engine was first available in the Honda Accord, backed by either a 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (or CVT). The 16-valve DOHC 4 cylinder engine has an 11:1 compression ratio and develops 185 HP and 181 lb-ft of torque (189 HP and 182 lb-ft of torque on the Sport model).The engine uses the i-VTEC system with Variable Timing Control (or VTC) and direct injection for better combustion and more efficient use of fuel. The engine is 5% more fuel efficient while still producing 10% more torque than the previous engine. In the Accord with the CVT the car is rated at 27 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.
