Mercedes Active Parking Assist is a system that helps drivers find a parking space and then helps them park the vehicle. When a space is found, the driver starts the parking procedure by steering towards the parking space and then placing the transmission into reverse. Once a dialog on the instrument is confirmed the Active Parking Assist system will take over the steering (at speeds of up to 6 mph). The driver is left with only the throttle, brake, and transmission to control. The system can also help drivers when it comes time to leave the parking spot, and it works with the PARKTRONIC system to warn drivers of hidden obstacles.
