What Is BMW Dynamic Performance Control?

BMW Dynamic Performance Control (sometimes called Performance Control or DPC) is a torque vectoring system that can send engine power to individual rear wheels. When traveling around a corner the outside wheels need to travel a further distance than the inside wheels. The system works at all speeds to eliminate under and over-steer by helping steer the vehicle around corners using the DPC rear axle to send more power to one of the rear wheels than to the other. The Performance Control system also works with the Dynamic Stability Control (or DSC) system, using the DPC to correct the vehicle's trajectory if possible, instead of the DSC reducing engine power or applying the brakes. The result is increased directional stability, especially when accelerating out of turns or when performing high speed lane changes.
