Ford first introduced their keypad based keyless entry system in 1980, when it was available on cars like the Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln Mark VI. The latest generation of the system is the SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad.

The five button keypad is generally located on the B-Pillar, and can be used to unlock the vehicle after the proper five digit code is entered. The car comes with a factory code, and owners can also program one of their own. Once the code is entered the driver’s door will automatically unlock. When the 3-4 button is pressed within 5-seconds of code entry all the doors unlock. Pressing 5-6 after entering the code will unlock or open the trunk. Pressing the 7-8 and 9-0 buttons together at any time will lock all the doors, even without entering the code.
