The Detroit Auto Show (also known as the North American International AutoShow) is the biggest event of the year for automakers looking to show off the latest concepts, production cars, and high tech features. 2016 is no different, with a vast range of amazing automobiles waiting to be discovered here in Detroit. With so much going on, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer spectacle of the show, so we've put together this guide to help make sure you don't miss anything important.

Let's take a look at the must-see vehicles you'll find at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class takes on the mid-size luxury segment with a longer, more spacious, and significantly more "techy" approach, delivering 241 horsepower from a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that's mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Automated driving and safety is taken to the next level with features such as Car-to-X communication, active lane-change assist, a self-parking valet feature, and follow-along cruise control.

2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class picks up where the SLK left off, renaming the brand's entry-level roadster and bringing with it a few tweaks to the car's exterior trim as well as its instrumentation. More important are the SLC-Class' new mechanical bits, which include a nine-speed automatic transmission paired with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor already in the SLC300 that's good for 241 horsepower. More grunt is available from the Mercedes-AMG SLC43 model, which upgrades to a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine that delivers 362 horses and 384 lb-ft of torque that allows the car to hit 60-mph from a standing start in just 4.6 seconds.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica takes over for the long-running Town & Country name plate, introducing a next-generation minivan that, for the very first time, makes a hybrid drivetrain part of the mix. Riding on a brand new platform that prioritizes lightness, the eight-passenger Chrysler Pacifica claims the largest interior in its class, along with an integrated vacuum the brand is calling Stow 'n Vac. A 287 horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 is standard with the Pacifica (mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission), and the new hybrid drivetrain promises 80 MPGe along with 30 miles of electric-only driving. Chrysler has also added a host of new safety features to the mix, including high tech gear such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.

2017 Smart Fortwo Cabriolet

Like tiny cars but hate having a roof over your head? The 2017 Smart Fortwo cabriolet lets you park almost anywhere you want and enjoy the sun in the process thanks to a retractable cloth panel that disappears into the trunk in 12 seconds (although stowing the roof's cross beams in the trunk takes a little more effort). The two-passenger mini-car features the same improved sub-1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder motor debuted by the Fortwo coupe the previous year, providing 89 horsepower that's managed by your choice of either a six-speed, dual-clutch automated manual transmission or a traditional five-speed manual.

2016 BMW M2

The 2016 BMW M2 affixes the M Division's badge more firmly to the automaker's entry-level coupe by way of a full street and track performance package. More than 360 horsepower are on tap from a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine, along with 343 lb-ft of torque (with 369 lb-ft available on overboost), and the choice between either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual gearbox. You'll also get a full M suspension package, along with an active rear differential, a unique aero package, and of course leather sport seats.

2017 Volvo S90

When you consider that the 2016 Volvo XC90 was named this year’s North American Car of the Year at the Detroit auto show, and has clearly woken up the brand’s sales, the debut of the 2017 Volvo S90 full-size flagship sedan seems well-timed for success. Also helping matters will be more safety innovations, led by a standard “IntelliSafe Assist” technology that offers “semi-autonomous driving” capability, and many of the same ultra-lux features found on the award-winning XC90. For example, owners will operate the S90’s infotainment and convenience functionality using the sophisticated Sensus interface.

As for those who prize the driving experience, the S90 will deliver with Volvo’s latest powertrains, including the supercharged, turbocharged T6 Drive-E four-cylinder unit that recently was named to Wards’ annual list of 10 Best Engines.

2017 Infiniti Q60

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 gets even more aggressive than its Q50 sedan sibling, as its complete redesign ushers in a wider and lower take on the classy looks of the coupe it replaces. Like the Q50, the Infiniti Q60 starts out with a 208 horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. But it's easy to upgrade that unit to a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that's good for either 300 horsepower or 400 horsepower, depending on which model is ordered. Manual transmissions are history for Infiniti, which means a seven-speed automatic gearbox is standard with the Q60 - but at least you can choose between rear-wheel or all-wheel drive editions of the two-door luxury car.

2016 Infiniti Q50

The 2016 Infiniti Q50 sedan sees a significant boost in power thanks to the introduction of a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine. The move signals the end of the VQ series V-6 which had long been the top-tier motor for Infiniti's entry-level sedan - even back when it was known as the G35. No time for nostalgia when you've got the choice between 300 horsepower and 400 horsepower versions of the turbo mill, along with the option of all-wheel drive, retuned electric power steering, and a seven-speed automatic transmission. A 208 horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo brings up the bottom end for the Q50.

The Infiniti Q50 gains a new engine and more precise steering.

Later in 2016.

Pricing has not yet been published for the Q50.

2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet

It didn't take long for the S-Class coupe to lose its top. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet sails into the Detroit auto show sans-roof, but boasting massive sex appeal in S550, S63 4MATIC, and S65 4MATIC editions. The base model of this full-size convertible offers all of the requisite luxury bells and whistles alongside its 449 horsepower, twin-turbo V-8 engine, while the S63 4MATIC brings a bigger twin-turbo unit to the table that pushes out 577 horses (along with standard all-wheel drive). The S65 4MATIC adds four extra cylinders, keeps the turbos and AWD in place, and shatters the asphalt with 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is a brand new model.

Nissan Titan Warrior Concept

The Nissan Titan Warrior concept shows just how much beef the Japanese brand is willing to bring to the full-size pickup fight. The four-wheel drive Titan Warrior takes a swipe at the Ford Raptor with its bulked-out body and off-road ready suspension package, which is an interesting stance for Nissan to take after having been criticized for how much the Titan resembled the standard F-150 when it was first introduced last year.

Riding three inches taller than stock, the Nissan Titan Warrior maintains the Titan XD's Cummins turbodiesel V-8 engine (good for 390 horsepower), adds six inches of width, and features the requisite look-at-me concept interior.

The Warrior puts an off-road spin on the Titan pickup.

It's just a concept - there are no plans to produce the Warrior at this time.

The Nissan Titan Warrior is not for sale.
