Camp Jeep at the Chicago Auto Show might be a misnomer. It’s obviously not a camp, but it is a great way to see the latest Jeeps in an approximation of their natural environment, with plenty of hills, descents, and otherwise unstable terrain to show off Jeep’s great four-wheel-drive technology. In any case, there’s nothing to stop Jeep team members from driving around, so Autobytel’s MissMotorMouth, Michelle Naranjo, got a ride in the all new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. Her driver was none other than Jim Morrison, the Director of Jeep Brand Marketing. The new 2014 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is equipped with Active Drive Lock, which enables this Jeep to crawl a 35-degree ascent without the driver’s foot on either the gas or the brake. For the trip back down, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk has a hill descent feature that kicks in really smoothly to control the ride back to level ground. Both systems work with Jeep’s engines for a well-controlled and stable ride. The Jeep can actively manage torque to send traction to whichever wheels need it the most, and it provides more than eight inches of ground clearance. Near the end of the course, Michelle notes that the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is as good of a desert rally car as the Wrangler.
